I cancelled Netflix after 20 years when the said you could no longer share your password. With three household off one account it was almost worth it. Now I get weekly e-mails’ begging me to come back.

I think this factor; that one of the series’ producers is Jada Pinkett Smith aka Mrs. Will (THE SLAP!) Smith
is one of several items weighing this movie down.
Based on public commentary I’ve seen on other sites,
many of Will’s ex fans remain angry at his outburst, and Jada’s part in the event. Still upset, more than a year later.

But clearly they’ve gone overboard to the other extreme.
There were suggestions going back to the 1800s that Charlotte may have had some African ancestry - one writer describing a portrait of her, referred to her ‘mulatto’ features; the idea was suggested again in a 1940s book.
People were basing this entirely on how her features appeared, not on any proof of ancestry.
True or not, it’s not a contemporary ‘woke’ idea, it’s just being used.
