The problem with non explosive DU projectiles is the “ dust” caused by a DU projectile moving at 5,000 f/second creates plasma that burns through the armor( up to 40”) spraying the inside with 6,000 degree plus molten metal and dust. After reading the comments, if there is a higher rate of radiation than should be, maybe the missile is the culprit. Low grade nuke blowing up an arms depot is a good idea to hide the fact the missile was a mini-nuke.

Pull up our Army TM’s on our 120mm kinetic ( DU)anti-tank rounds, it specifically mentions the dangers of DU when it is contacts armor at 5, 000 ft per second- the created plasma burns a hole clean through the armor, which showers the interior with 6,000 degrees and ignites the interior setting off oil, hydraulic fluid, ammo, fuel etc.
Let me help you, here is just one TM, “ do not burn or detonate” to inactivate it.

There's no valid comparison. The sun is farther away and humans don't ingest radioactive material in the air when exposed to sunlight.
