There is so much wrong about your story that it is laughable.

How are your boys doing in Bahkmut today? Advancing towards the East again?

alpha beta gamma

gamma is not harmful in the least.
fake news about this being a small nuclear explosion.
you get more of this from the mountains

Please write about something that you know about. Depleted uranium cannot be made to explode, and it gives off almost no radiation.

Airheads babbling about things they do not understand.

Oh yeah, this is utubers, the font of all millennial knowledge.

3.6 Roentgen , not great not terrible
———
The problem with non explosive DU projectiles is the “ dust” caused by a DU projectile moving at 5,000 f/second creates plasma that burns through the armor( up to 40”) spraying the inside with 6,000 degree plus molten metal and dust. The interior is ignited, blowing the armored vehicle into pieces. The resulting DU DUST which can cover hundreds of meters is deposited in the soil and if BREATHED results in cancer. The US used thousands of 120mm Silver Bullet DU projectiles all across Iraq, the deaths and birth defects are now legend.

Boeing used for years DU weights in their elevators for weight and balance purposes, a manufacturer WARNING by Boeing stated “ DO NOT GRIND , the dust WILL cause serious bodily damage or Death”. In the late 80’s/ early 90’s, ALL aircraft manufacturers DISCONTINUED DU in their weights.

Emitted radiation is not the danger, DU dust ingested is deadly.

Ask any Army EOD specialist, DU undisturbed is relatively harmless, exploded DU lethal.

I don’t really understand the up roar , other than the Brits by supplying the Ukies , only insures huge civilian Ukie injuries for a long, long time, “ down to the Ukrainian thingy”. The contaminated soil by DU dust is debatable if it enters the food chain.

The DU “ boomerang “ can only become a problem if their antiquated 105mm DU Challenger tank rounds actually are used to destroy Vlads equipment….Vlad will no doubt hunt many of these tanks down before they ever reach engagement.

“How are your boys doing in Bahkmut today? Advancing towards the East again?”

What’d you do? Wake up a little late jackson?

Nothing left to do but for the mop up and put bullets in the back of the heads of the Ukies left in secluded places.

The main characteristics of DU are its flammability and high density, which make DU projectiles good armor-piercing devices. When a DU projectile hits a tank with depleted uranium armor, there is an explosion that releases numerous fine insoluble uranium oxide particles

After reading the comments, if there is a higher rate of radiation than should be, maybe the missile is the culprit. Low grade nuke blowing up an arms depot is a good idea to hide the fact the missile was a mini-nuke.

Just thinking.

It was not a "small nuclear explosion". That headline is totally irresponsible.

It was an explosion in a facility housing depleted uranium, mildly radioactive material.

You are ignorant, ask any Army EOD man. I have. The danger is not in the undisturbed DU itself, the danger is vaporized DU ( plasma) and the dust it spreads when inhaled causes cancer and birth defects.

Pull up our Army TM’s on our 120mm kinetic ( DU)anti-tank rounds, it specifically mentions the dangers of DU when it is contacts armor at 5, 000 ft per second- the created plasma burns a hole clean through the armor, which showers the interior with 6,000 degrees and ignites the interior setting off oil, hydraulic fluid, ammo, fuel etc.

Let me help you, here is just one TM, “ do not burn or detonate” to inactivate it.
Burning or detonation ( the common EOD method) spreads the DU dust.

well, I learned a bit. Gamma radiation was released and it’s the quantity.

“Effects of Nuclear Weapons. Nuclear Radiation. The release of radiation is a phenomenon unique to nuclear explosions. There are several kinds of radiation emitted; these types include gamma, neutron, and ionizing radiation, and are emitted not only at the time of detonation (initial radiation) but also for long periods of time afterward (residual radiation).”
https://www.atomicarchive.com/science/effects/radiation.html

Isotopes of natural uranium decay by emitting mainly alpha particles. The emission of beta particles and gamma radiations are low. The table below shows the average energies per transformation emitted by U-238, U-235 and U-234.

Isotope Average Energy Emitted Per Transformation (MeV Bq-1)
-———Alpha-——Beta-——Gamma
U-238-—4.26——0.01——0.001
U-235-—4.47——0.048-—0.154
U-234-—4.84——0.0013—0.002

...and added to the environment and air, uranium dust will be just great for long term health. Next thing we'll see is Ukraine asking for super-fund cleanup, healthcare, etc.

BTW, there are periodic claims of injury to US soldiers.

Yes, what’s a little uranium dust in the air and ground, breath it in, add it to the food supply. Hey, at least no or not many US troops in the area, nor are we likely to see food from the region exported to the US, so not our problem? /s

What is a “hoho” in this context? The most popular definiton in online slang dictionaries defines “hoho” as something involving a twinkie, a sex act, and someone’s butt. How does that apply here, or does it?

. . . alpha rays, which are unable to even penetrate a piece of paper ...

True, but they're devastating over time to your innards if you ingest something emitting them, like radioactive dust.

In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled Ukraine Reels From RADIOACTIVE EXPLOSION OF Depleted Uranium, Sacajaweau wrote:

Depleted means depleted...the sun gives off more radiation.

There's no valid comparison.  The sun is farther away and humans don't ingest radioactive material in the air when exposed to sunlight.

Depleted Uranium is harmful to inhale because once lodged in tissures, it continues to give off energy for thousands or millions of years, although at a lower rate than originally manufactured.

"The half-life of uranium-238 is about 4.5 billion years, uranium-235 about 700 million years, and uranium-234 about 250 thousand years."
