Why do they try so desperately to please leftists who hate sports and drive away their center-right fan base? Human respect, corporate and community pressure I guess. Plenty of empty seats at the games but they don’t learn.

Victor Davis Hanson is always asking that question: “Where is all this cultural destruction coming from?” He always traces it back to very liberal and insane universities. It’s all part of Cultural Marxism to destroy the USA from within. They are playing the long-game on this and we are now near the climax where civilization is either saved or totally destroyed. There are many bit players in all of this (think BLM, antifa, the useful idiots who marched, people with “Love Lives Here” virtue signaling signs on the lawn, etc) all working toward the same goal. Many are ignorant foot soldiers who cannot see the grand strategy to wipe out the USA as founded.
Conservatives have been trained to focus on the war of ideas.
I was there in my college and grad school years.
I was wrong.
The reality is that politics is about power.
Ideas are just propaganda tools for those who have power, want to keep power or want to get power.
That is why the lefties focus on large institutions of all kinds.
They want you ordered to obey.
They want you to obey because you are afraid not to obey.
This is about power—whether it is perverts, vaccines, insane foreign policy, illegal immigration, supporting criminals etc etc etc etc.
If you are weak and helpless they are strong.
All that matters is who has the power.
Just play ball, not play with balls.

For most Republicans, it’s all about the DC country club and cocktail party circuit and paying lip-service to preserving what’s good about America.
For all Democrats, it is pure, unbridled power. As you say, they use extreme fear to cow the populace. ALL parts of the government are now governing by fear. Just look at how the FBI is destroying its whistleblowers. Look at the J6 prisoners. Look at the guy going to jail for a meme. Look at the NYC Marine saving his fellow subway riders from a deranged, murderous man. Look at what happened to those who didn’t get the COVID drug. Fear is everywhere now.
Why is that one can’t find somebody outraged about cultural appropriation when it comes to drag shows.... but is all outraged about blackface and other such things? What is there about men prancing about in women’s clothing that is not cultural appropriation?
