Probably complained when their Peloton delivery was late as well.
Their income is not $600,000. The $600,000 amount is the limit of what they can afford.
If they had a combined income of 600K, they would have no problems buying a house.
Same industries. Same companies or divisions.
In the past, you had to move to get ahead. Good fortune is of your own making. You just can't sit around waiting for it to happen, complaining. It never will.
Not enough data in the story to indicate how much of the problem is them vs the increasing socialism and size of government in the US.
Big gov and socialism means more and more people have to live in bungalows and rely on public transportation.
But what would want to know about these folks are:
How much did you pay for your car(s)?
How much do you pay for your electronics?
How much do you pay for coffee?
Bullpucky. Mortgages should be at around 7% right now. Money should never return to below 5%. Ever. What businesses (any) can survive on 2% gross profit before expenses?
Excellent points.
Housing has become much more expensive than in decades past, adjusting for inflation. Home ownership has become more difficult for the middle class.
Please explain. I've bought one house in my life and I will probably die in it.
Of all the yankee license plates I see here NJ is pretty much the most common.
Headed north?.................
No unfortunately 😏
In the last 8 months just on my street alone I have refugees that moved from NJ, NY, Rhode Island and Missouri.
If your property taxes are only $10k a year, you’re in a very bad neighborhood. Property taxes on a nice house will run you twice that much easily.
My kid turned down a job offer in Boston that almost doubled his salary to $200K. The housing costs (and not knowing anybody) made it not worth the move from the Minneapolis area.
“ If they had a combined income of 600K, they would have no problems buying a house.”
Yes. Hence my comment.
Having $600K price range makes it more difficult indeed.
There’s no such thing as a “dream house” in New Jersey. It’s expensive and decrepit ... which are two adjectives that should never be used to describe the same thing in any normal, rational world.
House down the street just went up for sale, 3300 sq ft, in ground pool, indoor sauna-hottub, 1.5 acres, $600K. Of course its nowhere near New Jersey. Point is, that $$ will buy you the best in rural or redstate areas, and a very nice 3_4 be family home will cost 1/3rd that much any day of the week.
Guess that depends on what they are looking for.
These two sound like class A millennial whiners and a story placed on Yahoo for ultimate feel sorry exposure.
What do they expect in a blue shithole like New Jersey??
Try relocating to the midwest...or even south somewhere.
We just bought a lovely home in Florida for under $500k!
I wonder — do they vote Democrat? I wager strongly they do. So, embrace the suck, ....this is life in Biden’s America. Just wait until you have to compete with illegals for homes, jobs, food ....
I remember when we had a baby coming, we lived in probably a 900 sq ft apartment in military housing above the Germans who rented to us at an exorbitant rate. No dishwasher, no DC, no screens in the windows, no American TV. We lived that way for three years!!
We’ve been in the process of selling a home and don’t discount the way these real estate professionals add to the crazy costs of homes — they wanted $3500 just to “stage” our house (which we refused to pay). It’s a massive industry that is also contributing to the markups on homes.
If they want more bang for their buck, they may need to search outside of that zip code.
