Asian-American Student Has Near-Perfect SAT Score and a 4.65 GPA, Gets Ugly Shock After Applications to Elite Universities

California has a lot of Asian-Americans (something like 15% of the population) and many of them study very hard and get excellent grades and SAT scores hoping to get into UC Berkeley. This student is characterized as a Florida native--if he is still a resident of Florida and not a California resident that might put him at a disadvantage compared to Californian Asians.

I think someone once expressed concern to Ronald Reagan about UC Berkeley having too many Asians and he said something to the effect that it wouldn't bother him if they were all Asians if they were the best qualified students.

Of course they might need to admit a few non-Asians for the college basketball team.
