No officer anywhere is trained for such a scenario.
A hostile mother resisting arrest, proclaiming the officers would have to shoot her leaves few options.
Waiting for how you think that they should have reacted to protect the only innocent in this scenario (the baby).
This woman just hit the lawsuit lottery and her net worth will increase by hundreds of thousands of dollars. As far as the crimes she’s being charged with, those will disappear shortly.
Now what kind of a mother has a weeks-old baby in a car unrestrained, with a drunk driver at the wheel?

No it does not, and if you have seen some of my recent posts, I have taken some crap from others for criticizing dog shootings by cops lately. So I try to look at each case and discern whether the cops were justified or went over the line. I can watch the video again (later) but I just didnt see the detail you are describing. What I saw was (lots) of passive resistance.
Trying to forcibly remove a 3 week old from her mother, you don’t think any mother isn’t going to resist that situation?
As I said, once they tell you they are going to arrest you, you had best comply, and deal with things later. The mother should not have been using her baby as a shield from arrest. JMO. But I am happy to look for follow up stories on this.

I agree completely with you, I think the woman was squeezing the child and he/she was going to be injured.
I don’t like that violence was used, but from what I saw it became that way when she was fighting them with one hand and squeezing the child with her other arm.
Their only concern was the health and welfare of the child at that point, momma was secondary when she started to fight with the child being held in one arm. Had she dropped him/her when they moved in imagine the outcry if the child got hurt. The choice is between mom or the baby getting injured, then there is no choice.
Look at 1:24 seconds of the video imbedded in the article, the woman is against the vehicle, there are 2 cops each holding one of her arms, and she is holding the child and you can clearly see the officer throw at least 2 full punches ar her face.
This cop has no business being a cop.
There is a lot of bs and false accusations made against cops by lowlifes but this cops behavior in this situation is criminal
The three babies were being held in the arms of the women instead of strapped into a car seat. The male driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license. The female passengers were arrested for felony child endangerment.
Those aren't trivial charges.

I agree they aren’t. The charges however serious or trivial do not give the cops the right to beat the suspect. I have never proposed that the cops had no business stopping the vehicle or arresting the occupants.
Just because someone has broken the law, does not mean the police have carte blanche right to abuse them. I am not here defending any of the folks arrested, yes they should have complied, but that doesn’t mean you get to just beat someone. This woman was immobile, she had 2 officers, one holding each arm, she was pinned against the vehicle.. the two officers who had her pinned were attempting to cuff her, she was not giving up her baby.
This cops career is hopefully over. It is clear he threw two full on punches at the woman’s head/face... Anyone who thinks this cops actions are justified. She is bent over the damn car, she isn’t biting at anyone, there is no way she was providing any sort of threat to anyone in that situation.
This cop is a slimeball, the LA County Sheriff agrees.

I have no reason to disagree with the Sheriffs assessment. I just cant see what cant be seen on the video so I couldnt come to that conclusion myself. But you seem to have settled it. So let the process proceed.
Yes they do, depending on the incident. These deputies might of had reason to believe the suspect, to avoid being arrested and jailed, would injure the baby to avoid being arrested. By the actions of these people, it's clear they were rolling the dice with the kids safety to begin with.
