I meant to say “well, family members of the sick too- they are under tremendous stress watching their loved ones have to go through serious health problems), but we used to be able to smoke in hospitals (sort of), but no more, unless you do as you said, fine a sympathetic guard.

When the ban first came out on hospital grounds, like in parking lots that were 1000’s of yards away from the hospital, I thought “how in the heck are they gonna ever prove that a few particles of smoke that someone inhaled as a result of a smoker smoking in the wide open parking lot? How can they ever claim that so and sos smoke particles were ever the cause? It’s asinine to think that such small amounts of smoke would be r3sponsible,for so and so’s cancer down the road. The cause is more apt to be things .ike exhaust from cars, from businesses, from dri king water, from pesticides used on food, etc etc etc

It became clear to me when they banned parking lot smoking altogether that it was not about health at all. But about total control over smokers whom they love to demonize.

I just no5iced the following

“David Hockney wrote, “I too am BORED with WELLNESS. The concept seems ridiculous and too bossy for me, I’m still smoking, and ENJOYING it ENORMOUSLY.””

Kudos to Hockney! For spelling it out pr3cisely. It’s far too bossy, but that is why some people love it so much (preaching against smoking I mean)

Someone used to say “quit smoking? No way! How in the world will I know what I died of if I quit smoking?”

Some folks in the thread have suggested that all someone needs to do is get on the patch if they end up in a hospital or whatever. I tried for decades to quit using the patch, gum, e-ciggs etc, but there is more to cigg habit than just nicotine- the patches and gum didn’t do squat for me- all it fid was overload my system with nicotine while I was still craving smoking ciggs. Most know the myriad dangers of smo, ing, but taking the leap to quit smoking is what holds so many back- thankfully,I was able to finally do so, thouhg too late, but I do feel for those who are still hooked, and cringe whenever I see so eone tel. Them “all you need to do is get on the patch”- the patches are crap. Breaking cigg addiction is as bad as heroine addiction, a d most would rather not put thems3lves through that hell, and would rather roll the dice while, continuing to smoke, and I certainly don’t blame them for not wanting to subject th3mselves to the hell of quitting, until they are good and ready to do it. Non smo,ers though want the control of telling the smoker they must suffer during the most stressful times I. Their lives, ie being in hospitals and such
