She is over the hill now. At 38, she is far from being the best player on the team. She is not a starter and saw some limited time the first game and no time the second game. The only reason she is on the team this World Cup is because of her notoriety. She is the liberal’s middle finger to conservatives. The coach had no choice but to include her on the team, which is politicized.
The US is not going to win the World Cup and is struggling to get to the knockout round. They need at least a tie against Portugal to move on.
Germany, England, Spain, and Japan are the best teams in the tournament.
I happened to see a few minutes of this game with Netherlands, and you are so right, the quality of play was almost unwatchable compared to the men.
It was striking how bad it was.
