Merkur and Feather blades here
I disagree. I don’t like the shave
Ironic?
You were not the only one that forgot Gillette’s 2017 ad caused immense self destruction!
It is astonishing, some of the newer razor companies exist because of that Gillette ad campaign.
Alienate millions and somehow prosper-it’s like high taxes create jobs-sheer leftist lunacy.
“’Old school’ does not have to have a negative connotation. Cheaper and just as efficient—as if that is not enough.”
To me, it doesn’t have a negative connotation.
just when you think a razor company is sharp...BOOM! They’ll have trouble getting a handle on this and in the end get creamed. but I won’t get in a lather about it since I HATE shaving with a passion! my barber shaves me and that’s only after someone tries to give me five bucks. I look a little “homeless” with a full beard.
Sticking with Schick/Wilkinson-Sword DE razor or Bic.
One doesn’t need to use “Harry’s Razor” to shave with a DE blade! My favorite is the Razorock all aluminum “Lupo” ($40) combined with whatever blades are cheap on Amazon...
And a bar of Ivory soap. Not sure if using “Ivory” makes me a racist.

“Merkur and Feather blades here.”
Feather blades are very thin and VERY sharp, and one has to be VERY careful using them. However, once one becomes proficient at it, they can give amazing shaves.
I buy Wilkson Sword in bulk, so they are pretty inexpensive.
My biggest expense is the shaving soap, but I go with Van der Hagen, which is the most affordable, and works just fine for me.
100 blades for under $10:
Derby blades are $10 even for 100. My preference.
Not to mention, their razors stink.
Made in China.
Someone gave me a Harry’s Razor , not very good , that rubber part that moves the blade , blah
Used a safety razor till about 20 years ago, but the volume of nicks was just unacceptable. Switched to cheap plastic disposables, and haven’t looked back. Gave up shaving soap about the same. Now I just use any quality triple milled soap, and shave in the shower. My only problem has been finding disposable razors without the integrated slime strip, but I have a good 10 years worth in reserve.
I’ve only cut myself once with the feather, early on and I didn’t know until I saw the blood (not bad though).
I don’t shave daily and found multi-blade razors would clog.
One day I came across my old Schick Injector (from 1972) and found it not only didn’t clog but outlasted the the other blades.
Haven’t looked back.
Me too.
Dropped Harry for Creamo Cream’s new razor. It’s actually better and closer.
They are amazingly sharp blades. Quality engineering.
But, I’ll stick with my Wilkinson Swords. I’m used to them; I like them; so I’ll keep using them.
I think we can agree that a bit of diversity in this area is ok. ;)
