Tell ya what, I used to be proud to call myself a “conservative”, but a funny thing happened on the way to the here and now. Our native-born commies have been making a steady, methodical, and concerted effort to take over the country for the last few decades now. And all the “conservatives” we elected to oppose them refused to lift a finger to fight. If anything sabotaged conservatism, it was this inherent weakness of conservatism itself.
It may be a fine ideology to run a country if the people of that country are generally good and moral, but when you’ve got commie scumbags who are willing to break all the rules to get into power, conservatism appears to be completely unprepared to deal with them. And if that is true, since we are in that situation today, what worth is left to an ideology without any utility?

I suppose that’s true. But Trump’s chance of being the 2024 GOP nominee has to be at least 80%. So at some point it’s time to withdraw resources (both financial and emotional) from the primary, and redeploy them to the general election.
