“Clipping a playing card to the front and back bike tires for the sound of a motor as you peddled down the road.”
I loved doing that!! Thought it was so cool.
I suspect you grew up a few years before me but backed then we were socialized by our neighbors, by society. (My favorite thing was shimming up giant trees and I knew if I screwed 2 blocks from my home, my mom would know about it before I made the bike ride home back.
Now kids are socialized by the net. Ain’t gonna work.
Standing on dad’s running board for a ride home.
Jumping from the upstairs window or porch with a bedsheet for a parachute.
Jumping over the third rail on the electric rail line.
kids of the 40s and 50s
NO the wimps the were reared by progressives with the utopia idea and no nerves for the call of duty.
By the 60’s the hippy era was festering to the point of feral and it’s still spreading many made it to D.C. and look how that turned out.
Just wondering....when were THOSE kids born?
Not in America who knows what they call where they squat.
Who were the kids fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan? Who were the firefighters running up the stairs in the World Trade Center?
They were not your precious children of the 40s and 50s. And none of them were drafted.
They were not your precious children of the 40s and 50s
Better do a recheck on that data.
Alcohol and mercurichrome.
When I found out that an M-80 was a 1/4 stick of dynamite, I took four of them, wrapped them with electrical tape, twisted the fuses into one. Lit it and threw it into the storm sewer.
Great fun. LOUD as hell.
I remember the kits for making these at home, as my sister and I did.
Really? Or were they the 20 something’s born in the 80’s.
You must be old and delusional. It’s OK that our kids are doing well. At least mine are—and their peers. The have gone to war, multiple times, and they have come home to run stuff.
You can focus on the few that scream and shout in whatever echo chamber you are in. Those are a vast minority. Most Xers and Millenials are doing just fine. If you don’t think so, go to your local kids soccer field and watch. The suburbs are full of them.
The kids of the 30’s and 40s are the Silent Generation. Those kids threw up to do almost nothing. Their claim to fame? Joe Biden.
Good luck with that.
Having trouble with math are we and ages of people in service
Someone born in the 30’s 40s or 50s would have been mid sixties, fifties, and forties on 9/11. No, those were the guys running up the stairs. Nor were they the majority in the service.
You seem to think your peers are young forever. They aren’t. You are mistaking kids born in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s for the old folks you recall.
Someone born 40s or 50s served mech longer then you believe check the numbers no where the 80’s your locked on Biden.
