We did some will and trust work recently and the question came up as to whether to bury or scatter our ashes. I guess they’re gonna be scattered regardless….

It really doesn’t matter. We’ll all be dead from climate change within ten years anyway. I’m upset that we’re wasting money on investigating asteroids. That money could have been given to some green crony capitalist to save us now.

I thought we were supposed to drill 800 feet down, insert a nuke, and blow the asteroid up, preventing Armageddon.

Yeah, but if you want to see real climate change, it's hard to beat a large asteroid hitting the earth.

I read that wouldn’t really help …much.

As you would still get the same mass and energy . If you pulverized it to billions of bb size rocks the energy would just be used in a different way. That is the particles would quickly convert their kinetic energy to heat from friction with the atmosphere and a big chunk of the sky would instantly be transformed to white hot plasma, baking everything under it for thousands of sq miles.

That's nothing. 1600 Pennsylvania was hit by a huge ass with hemorrhoids in 2023. Is that a double "s", double "r" assterroid?

I’ll be 232 years old when the asteroid hits. I don’t think I’ll start panicking until I hit about 225.

Alexis, please make sure I don't have any plans in 159 years. 🤓

Wait, I thought in 7 years we'd be dead, so we shouldn't worry.

Of course, the Democrats might do a study on it, so they can raise taxes - for the children.

1.
~~~~~~
Bennu, a Near-Earth Object (NEO), orbits the earth roughly every six years....
~~~~~~

Bennu does not orbit the earth. It orbits the sun.

https://youtu.be/7OSvtznJYuI?t=478

2.
~~~~~~
A paper from the OSIRIS-REx science team gives Bennu just a 1 in 2,700 chance — or 0.037% — of impacting Earth on.....
~~~~~~

A more important question would be, statistically, how long will it take for Bennu to attain a 50% chance of hitting the earth?

If I go idle my truck 24x7 will it speed it up? Just askin’.
