“The Cowboys” with John Wayne.
Shenandoah. Color movies were rather new. Loved James Stewart. “He started from the bottom and went down’.
Then there’s the “You’re free” quote to the slave. I was too young to understand what that meant. A handsome, young Doug McClure marrying the daughter and then going off to war. John Wayne’s son taking a sword in the gut shocked me. Then there was the son taking a bullet by accident.
It was all sad but hopeful.
I saw “Amistad.” IIRC, the main character was the African played by Djimon Hounsou. Matthew McConoughy plays an attorney. It was like watching a legal drama.
I see no one mentioned the attempt to do an Atlas Shrugged movie. A movie the entertainment industry tried to kill and, in some ways, succeeded. The volume 1 wasn’t bad, the 2nd volume wasn’t good, the 3rd volume was downright awful.
I still applaud the attempt!
I think “The Fountainhead” is a libertarian in message film.
Amazing that the three movies were made at all.
Agree!
