You say that so how do you explain the abysmal first years as Michigan head coach, he finally read coaching for dummies?
I couldn’t tell you if he is or isn’t ,just looking at the record and IMO doesn’t support your claim
Just my 2 cents
You know he coached at the University of San Diego and Stanford and turned those abysmal programs around, right? And the 49ers too. Years before Michigan.
I couldn’t tell you if he is or isn’t ,just looking at the record and IMO doesn’t support your claim
He has a decent coaching record and his players love him. He's the type of coach that builds confidence and character in his players.
My brother in law went to Palo Alto High with their recently retired football coach. Earl coached Harbaugh at Paly.
Okay?
Excellent, good insight.

My wife used to baby sit for Bill Walsh. My father in law played on the ‘Wow Boys’ undefeated Stanford team in the ‘40s. I could go on...
All is fair in love and war...but not College Football.
Abysmal? You are an idiot.
His first four seasons he was 10-3 three times and 8-5 the other time.
I don't like either one of the Harbaugh coaches but I've got to respect their talent.
You read somewhere, by another Harbaugh hater, like you, that he was a poor coach until he started cheating, well 10-3; 10-3; 8-5 and 10-3 adds up to 38 wins and 14 loses, hardly abysmal.
Maybe you should read that posting about a subject of which you have no knowledge, only means that you are like many FReepers, shoot first aim later.
Thanks for the link .. an interesting read.
I think you are spot on.
And with the NIL "pay to play" now, it has only become worse
“I’m just puttin’ this out there for y’all, but prolly won’t add much more to it.”
That said, the least you can do is offer free popcorn.
Boy I love the “idiot” comment, guess this is third grade.
By abysmal I mean playoffs, how many 10-3 will get to the playoffs, none and most elite programs coaches fired.
10-3 is fine for most programs, great even Illinois, Indiana, northwestern….. would erect monuments for those coaches, but not teams like Georgia, Alabama , Michigan or OSU
As I said, if Michigan beats Penn and OSU , I will concede that Michigan is a great team, don’t think that is an “idiotic” position to hold.
If they don’t or if it is very close that will only add to the suspicions of foul play.
Is that an “idiotic “ position to hold?
Undefeated against a 112th strength of schedule should be a given for a program such as Michigan’s. Today and vs OSU will tell if this was a great team beating up(which they should), on inferior teams or a good team but not a great one.
BTW, though I am an OSU fan, I get the number one position based on strength of schedule 9th and wins over ND and Penn, but they have not been awe inspiring and even today matters more than I hear most folks saying. If OSU doesn’t pound MS like Michigan did, I think questions should be asked
If OSU loses to Michigan and has close game against MS then all the whining about the last two loses and the “Covid “ non game need to go away
I will admit that harbaugh has had a much more interesting career than I realized. 15 years in NFL if I read that correctly and coaching successes in other programs. Being just a casual follower of NFL, it surprised me his longevity, and I need to research more what he did as a player, because frankly as a quarterback I don’t remember his name being mentioned much, but that may be more on me than him and what he accomplished
Lastly, the B1Gs and NCAA responses and Michigans response leads me to believe that there is more than smoke there. Even if “everyone “ outside of Michigan is out to get harbaugh and this is a nothing burger, as a league going after top tier member for personal reasons seems pretty stupid. We will see
Actually I was not aware of those, till recently and his longevity in NFL means I have to do some research on him as a player because as a casual follower of the NFL I have no memory of him as a player, not like other high profile qbs. That may be more on me and not on him and what he accomplished
First let me thank you for not calling me an idiot like someone else
I agree he is a decent coach, little weird, but hey you do you. Players loving him
Is good.
By abysmal I was referencing that in terms of elite teams. Would Alabama, Georgia OSU consider 10-3 acceptable? Indiana, Illinois Northwestern…. and most average teams would probably erect statues in honor of them.
10-3 doesn’t get you into the playoffs, and certainly not a national title.
Harbaugh going from a good 10-3 team to what has happened the last 3 years is moving to greatness.
Beating OSU 2 times in a row after losing all those years is an accomplishment, but the “cheating”scandal puts a wrinkle in that
These next few games esp for Michigan, but also OSU will say a lot
Undefeated with a 112 strength of schedule leaves question marks, scandal leaves question marks, and though winning these next few games won’t end the investigations, it would answer the question is Michigan for real and is harbaugh a good or great coach.
Appreciate your response
You know they all do. The difference is that it's personal because a lot of people in power do not like Harbaugh.
As I said before, I don't like either one of the Coach Harbaughs, but as far as this "sign stealing scandal" is concerned, every major college football program engages in "discovering the opponents signals".
I heard it put best by a tv sports talking head this week when he likened it to speeding on the freeway, if your going 76 in a 70 zone, and are passed by a sports car doing 85, you are both breaking the speeding law, it's just a matter of degree.
Same deal in college football and the purity of the "clean hands of the coaches that haven't been caught".
I don't know what Harbaugh knew about that clown dressing in another teams outfits, but I think it was Central Michigan.
Does anyone think that Michigan would even look at the signs of Central Michigan?
I could see it if the "spy" was at Penn State or OSU, but central mich?
Heard that too, not saying everyone’s hands are clean, but if your defense is everyone speeds provably not going to get you off
Central Michigan thing is strange, but stallions sounds like a strange dude
Apparently he was or someone was at multiple Penn games according to reports of tickets bought
The whole thing sounds like a keystone cops operation, but who knows
Additionally as to everyone does it, as one person said there is getting real close to the line and then stepping over the line
Sign “stealing” during a game is apparently legal, if you figure out signs during game that is fine….
Will see how it plays out
