The article says the cops wore video.
Will pass final judgement after seeing said video. IF it is released at all.
Until then - I side with the cops.
Trouble is - Derek Chavin followed procedures also. What good did those do him?
Less dangerous than a gunshot wound. Tasers fill a niche in those circumstances where grappling with a suspect would be dangerous for the officer, but in which a suspect could be reasonably subdued without resorting to lethal force, when, as in this instance, the suspect was threatening officers with a knife.
In some states it is harder to evict a dead person than a live one. Landlord has to deal with the estate and follow stringent rules to make sure the mans belongings are not tampered with. Since this guy was never evicted alive. then it might mean more trouble of the landlord.
Police are trained to go one up when encountering a resisting suspect.
Unarmed suspect.... Baton or Taser
Suspect with knife... Pistol.
This is necessary because cops arent allowed to turn and run from a threat.
We are expected by the victims to win...
My old Supervisor use to say
If you find yourself in a fair fight...you F’d up!
I don’t for the life of me understand ‘eviction’ getting to this level unless it took years, yet alone this level of aggression to tase 70 something when PEOPLE SQUAT IN OTHER PEOPLE’S HOMES AND NOT ONE THING IS DONE TO MAKE THEM VACATE
I found it odd that the NYC cops didn’t use a nightstick taser or gun in that incident.
You got that right. Homeowners can’t do anything about squatters yet tenants can be evicted by force of law.
Sounds from the name he might have been Caucasian and that might have been his problem. If had been an illegal alien the outcome might have been much better.
LEO's do what they are trained to do, but they knew he was a 76 year old man when they entered his apartment, perhaps he thought they were zombies? Perhaps like George Floyd he was already jacked up on a mix of narcotics.
Perhaps Social Services would have been a more reasonable interface? They might have been able to talk him out and provide temporary means of shelter.
It would be nice to know whether this renter indicted in the rental form family members to be contacted in event of emergency.
Was the eviction legally processed?
Did renter have a history or reputation of psychological problems?
Was he on Social Security and the rent had been raised recently several times?
Sad story, too many unknowns.
Sad story, too many unknowns.

Very true. But the cops were wearing body cams. But even they can be carefully edited to show what the authorities want them to show.
Just like the media can edit them to paint a different picture.
Foot•coot
Thought you were going to say “old FOOL “
tasers work, the man attacked the officers with a deadly weapon.
An old man could not be a match for even a woman LEO. Just hit him with a baton, knock him down.
The taser worked. The old man was disarmed and dropped his weapon. He likely was not thinking clearly, and he won’t ever do that again,
. As in Dead Right There.
Like using a cattle prod on a small dog, overkill. But all of the living involved will sleep well.
Leo’s stopped carrying batons 20 years ago. thanks to bleeding hearts like you.
LEO’s and licensed Security Guards may Carry collapsable batons in most areas. The reason that you don’t want the large baton is because people can easily take it from you and use it against you. IME.
I feel your pain. I rented an Apartment years ago and a new buyer raised the rent by 110%. I couch surfed for a month until I found a new apartment. Good luck.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣feck it
Twenty years ago this July, i was pulled over on a small access road by a deputy sheriff 10 pm on a dark night, krieg lights blaring, ordered out of the car i was driving, at gun point, then spun/turned and thrown against the rear trunk lid of the new Honda i had been driving, all the time complying with hands raised until my face got smashed. Spread legs, patted down, and i said “Officer, please tell me what this is about? I’m just a regular white guy horse doctor minding my own business.”
He says” this isn’t your car” i said, “this car belongs to my other in law namedMxxxxx Mxxxx, and address is 1059 Nw xxxst, n####, fl, zip code.”
“Oh.” He says, “i know that”. …. End of story is we exchanged very few pleasantries, and i was free to drive home with a warning ticket for crossing a line, after hearing that Hondas are the most stolen cars in Florida.
My brother, former Marine and deputy sheriff in SC said i was lucky. But a bleeding heart? Well, bless your daggum heart, no.
thanks for the infinitesimal anomaly in your life dealing with leo’s. please, continue to be anticop because of something that happened once years ago.
Absolutely not anti cop. Total misread. Personal experience that gives good judgement. But come on, no need to be a martial arts expert to to disarm an old man. Especially for a civil duty of eviction.
I pray that you live a very long life and never feel old.
