Native Americans didn't want to be ruled by Washington, D.C. either, but the white man took their land, their culture, their religion, their language, and their children. They put them in Catholic boarding schools where they were beaten, raped, starved, and buried in unmarked graves. Canada did the same thing.And what were the various tribes doing during the time before Europeans showed up?

Yes they did. I just finished watching the 2023 Drama TV series "Bones of Crows" about the Canadian system. There was a movie of the same name in 2022, that they expanded into a 5 part series. The characters portrayed are from the Cree Tribe.

Possibly...BUT...
The Russian Federation is failing and has many fracture points. aggravated by most of the conscripts coming from beyond the Moscow/St Petersburg area, mismanagement on many levels, corruption...
Mostly held together by the Russian military and corruption and they are losing their grip.
Also coming along in a few years will be a Turnip Winter for some of the Russian Federation.
Just like in 1916.
Not worth taking.
