great post
tight reasoning
I enjoyed it much ..thanks for taking the time
A really interesting divergence between the dax and the 10yr this am .... I saw it a bit yesterday also.
The elasticity between the two seems to have separated to the point of an inverse relationship.
$ buys are able buy cheaper dollars ... to buy better bonds ... then as the move reverses, they can sell better bonds for better dollars
it's anomaly I haven't seen ..
Thoughts?
“A really interesting divergence between the dax and the 10yr this am .... I saw it a bit yesterday also.”

10 yr yield or 10 yr price? Also, I’m having trouble wrapping my head around any identifiable causation between the DAX and the TNX, but that’s certainly not to say there couldn’t be one.
I’ve never played currencies directly, but I do use the $USD as an inverse indicator of sorts for US stocks. As $USD goes higher, US stocks get more expensive for foreign investors, putting downward pressure on US stocks. The inverse is true as well, of course.
Apparently, the tech sector market today is currently not liking NVDA’s chances this evening. QQQ not getting crushed, but it is disappointing to me with my QQQ buy yesterday. I’m down about 50 bps on that. Your SQQQ is looking good for now.
“10 yr yield or 10 yr price? “
yield ....
what I generaly see is ... as the yeild goes up , demand for $ as reflected by dax goes up .
As the yeilds go down .. demand for $ goes down...
an elastic connection...
But ... it looks like I can buy cheaper dollars ... buy better bonds .... then when the spread tightens ..I can sell my better bonds for better dollars.
Not what what I’m used to seeing.
“Your SQQQ is looking good “
already swung tqqq @ 55 .... I was a bit slow on the trigger this am...
I’ve thought about hedging out with some options, but my nerves of steel keep telling me to hang in... I still like that 17500 NDX ..at the moment it’s moving my way ...if those red unicorns would just stop running. ...
..GREEN Candles .... and away
(sort of the superman thing)
dax .... - DXY
my bad ... too many letters and numbers running in my head ..
I think I’ll go take a walk in the woods.
I’m old ... I am allowed to be bafuddled
QQQ rallying into the close. Good news coming from NVDA?
Or is this a head fake leading to disaster?
NVDA performing well after the close (up 70 bps) but I’ve seen no word of their actual earnings/outlook.
Re NVDA, here’s what Wall Street is expecting according to consensus estimates from LSEG, formerly known as Refinitiv:
Earnings per share: $4.64 adjusted
Revenue: $20.62 billion
Hmmmmm .... another one .. about as close as one could get.
Low
421.63
I know you saw that herd of green unicorns go ripping across the field ... NDX ... close over 17490
now there is a show going on ...
I'm saddled up and straddled up ...ride em cowboy
Nvidia
reported earnings after the bell. Here’s what the company reported compared with what Wall Street was expecting, based on a survey of analysts by LSEG, formerly known as Refinitiv:
Earnings: $5.15 adjusted per share. That may not compare with the $4.64 adjusted per share expected
Revenue: $22.10 billion. That may not compare with the $20.62 billion expected
NVDA after the bell making it happen!
Earnings/revenue all good!!
What a pants puckering day ...
if your not feeling the rush now.... your doing it wrong
overnight may be a roller coaster , but it looks like it’s settling in.
A lot of balancing going to have to happen for the boys at the night desks....
now ...where to from here?
Coffee drinker here as well.
And, I needed it for today. I knew NVIDIA’s earnings report would move the market (NDX) but I didn’t expect the wild ride of this afternoon, especially that movement after the market closed.
More earnings coming out tomorrow. I have shares in Newmont Mining and its report will come out tomorrow a.m. I’m hoping for that report to be positive and it will move up towards its previous highs. That stock pays a nice dividend and one I’ve had in my portfolio for some time.
I too have a bit of that ..
I opened the position about 3 months ago, and have been slowly building...
I took the opportunity to average my in down some more..
I could use a green unicorn ... but I liked it at 37...
and I like more now.
High institutional holding
little short interest
4.82%
I would love to see a positive earnings report.
High volume today ...moving green
I'm thinking when gold pops again(asset inflation) some of these mines will do pretty good.
not financial advise ... for ENTERTAINMENT only
This Intel, Microsoft plan is going to go ape.
USG has the back.
What is the QQQ and why should people on this forum care?
(It’s getting old...)
Isn't this an investment thread?
The qqq is ... Invesco QQQ Trust Series
see... has invesco right in the name ....
sqqq is a 3x short etf that tracks the QQQ
tqqq is a 3x long etf that tracks the Q
I bought tqqq at 55 yesterday ..sold at 58.90 this am
I straddled sqqq at 13.50 over 11.50 for .12 closed out at .30
do the math on that .....
I am taking the rest of the day off ....
maybe the rest of the month
I would love to learn more from other folks .. but few people seem interested in discussing things.... what is your strategy? What indicators do you follow? I am not being a smart alack ...I would really like to share.
US stocks rallied on Thursday, with the S&P 500 soaring 1.2% to break a fresh record high, while the Nasdaq jumped 1.9% and the Dow Jones added about 240 points after Nvidia’s results topped forecasts. Nvidia shares gained more than 11% to an all-time high of $750.26 as the company reported record revenue and issued upbeat guidance amid robust demand, suggesting the AI-fueled rally will continue. Megacap stocks were also in the green, namely Microsoft (1.7%), Apple (0.4%), Amazon (2.3%), Meta (2%) and Alphabet (0.6%). Shares of Advanced Micro Devices (5.4%), Intel (0.6%), Qualcomm (1.7%) and Micron (3.8%) also gained sharply.
Meanwhile, traders appear to shrug off a hawkish Fed after FOMC minutes showed the central bank is in no rush to cut interest rates. Meanwhile, flash S&P Global PMIs showed private sector activity in the US slowed in February, led by a softer-than-expected growth in services while manufacturing output rebounded. Also, initial claims unexpectedly fell.
I hope this fund does you well. I am pretty much in all capital preservation. Good luck!
