How much will it cost them to demolish the tiny homes and cover with Lyme when they homeless destroy them in a few months?
The demolition companies must have lobbied the town to purchase them

Why not go full Oscar the Grouch?
Buy large garbage cans at Home Depot. When the occupant dies, only two pallbearers are required to move them to the cemetery and the can can be reused by the next occupant.
Luxury condos would be roll on trash bins.

They look like outhouses but without the hole so the residents have to go to the city streets to do their business, just like they do now.

My wife and I paid $2500 for a single axle camp trailer that was in very nice shape and $4500 for a larger tandem axle trailer in even better shape not very long ago. Both were light enough to tow behind our 2001 Astro Van. We were able to sell each for a little more than we paid for them because we make things better while we own them. They were both fully self contained with useful kitchens and bathrooms and could sleep multiple people The tandem axle had a bedroom in the back.
Currently you can purchase a brand new fully self-contained Coleman 17 foot single axle trailer from a dealer which can sleep four in Portland for $13,995.

Note that the identity of the manufacturer is not named in the article.
Gee, I wonder why... 🤔

Taxpayers really need to know the name of the manufacturer.

I could build two of those a day for $3000 each and make a tidy profit. I wonder who the supplier knows and who they are paying off

a public information officer for the Temporary Alternative Shelter Sites, said the units come with everything a resident will need inside. This includes a bed, bedding, and a heater.
What about food, clothing, a conscience, self discipline?

That's all well and good, but any experienced city civil servant must factor in the bribes, kickbacks and future considerations when deciding how best to squander public monies.

“They’ll be trashed within weeks.”
It’s a good experiment.
Unfortunately, the likely bad result will probably be paid for by the rest of us, not Portland taxpayers.
Wonder what money Portand is using to buy the tiny homes.
$16,000 for each home, a lot more to set them up and provide utilities.
