I was told there’s a browser called Onion that is pretty much unregulated. Has anyone used it?

FreeTube. You can send all your subscriptions over free tube. Anytime you’re on YouTube and you add another subscription, it automatically adds it to free tube.

Two easy ways to fix this. Use the Brave browser. You can use your favorite adblocker with it.

Or use the adblocker ublockorigin extension in Firefox.

I hate to disagree with everyone here but YouTube is a business, not a public service. They make money by their adds. If you do not want to watch their adds, then do not watch YouTube.

Yes, my Brave browser with an ad blocker built into it was crashing each time I tried to link to Youtube. I had to switch back to Firefox for any Youtube link.

I use Firefox and the free ‘uBlock Origin’ and have not had any issues yet.
It is also available for Chrome etc.
Google search: uBlock Origin

Chrome will be changing uBlock Orgin unless uBlock can update the extension.

Search result: Starting June 2024, adblockers such as uBlock Origin and many other extensions on Chrome will no longer work as intended. Google Chrome will begin disabling extensions based on an older extension platform, called Manifest V2, as it moves to the more limited V3 version.Jan 2, 2024

I hadn’t really paid attention until I saw your post.

About a month ago I downloaded/installed the trial version of Malwarebytes. I promptly noticed that ads in YT videos became glitchy, but then forgot about it because I rarely look at YT unless I’m looking for something specific.

About a week ago or so the MWB trial expired and I’ve procrastinated uninstalling it to rid myself of the nag screen to get me to buy it.

Since then, I noticed both while the software was active and after the trial expired that some websites linked on FR wouldn’t let me view articles with large banners “you’re using an adblocker”).

As well, after seeing your post and confirming it last night, it appears that the expired trial of Malwarebytes has CANCELLED ALL ADS on YT videos.

FWIW

I just found out the uBlock Origin has shut down. I also read where Google will disable uBO in their web browser this year.

Has anyone seen this?
