I had a Reader's Digest story published in their "Life in the United States" section many, many years ago.
Writing from my dad's perspective (Yeah - I cheated a little ...) I sent in something like this:
"I never realized how small the US can be until my son sent me instructions on how to get to his house in Connecticut from our home in San Antonio, TX.
"Get on I-10 East, turn left at I-95 in Jacksonville, FL. Turn right at Route 32 in Groton, CT; then make a right after two lights. Take the second left, and we're the third house on the right.
