This is going to be a crazy day. I got up early, mowed the lawn, watered the flowers, put my linens in the laundry, vaccumed, showered, made breakfast... all before 8:45am. I did all that because I have so much office work today that I needed an early start....

Only problem is now I am so tired I can barely stay awake to do my work!

You are extremely ambitious! WHEW! I'm tired just listening to all you have done already. *smile*

Well, go take a power nap and then do your office work.

I just got this from hubby. Enjoy!

Hello Folks:
The following message is from Lt. Col. Rick, a career U.S. Air Force officer presently stationed at the Pentagon. The event he experienced in a Pentagon cafeteria occurred only this week. His message is as follows:

Cafeteria at the Pentagon

"I just witnessed something I don't think I'll ever forget. I was down near the cafeteria in the Pentagon meeting a friend for lunch and I see a very large crowd of people inside. I walk in and soon find myself standing less than three feet away from our Commander-in-Chief and right beside the Secretary of Defense (and a bunch of Secret Service folks). President Bush was walking around shaking hands and thanking all of us for what we do.

He kept saying to people "Don't Worry" -- as if to say, I've got it under control. He must have shaken 1000 hands or more. What particularly struck me was his presence - not a particularly large man in stature, but he had an aura of a giant - a smile on his face, yet you can sense he was a man on a mission - a man of purpose and conviction - there was just this feeling that he is THE MAN, and he is in charge - he had a quiet confidence that was deafening!

Then, a group of folks just behind me started singing God Bless America and, in no time, the entire room - which was packed - was singing the song. It was enough to give anyone goose bumps. If there was a dry eye in the place, I couldn't see it (probably because my eyes weren't too dry).

It was just one of those once-in-a-life-time experiences that I shall never forget. After God Bless America, there were a few chants of "USA-USA-USA," followed by a lot of applause. When President Bush finally made his way toward the entrance, he turned with his confident smile and waved at everyone, and the room just erupted in cheers and whistles and applause. I've been to professional football games where the noise wasn't that loud. It was just such a wonderful experience and it made me:

1) So very happy that George W. Bush is our president and Commander-in-Chief.
2) So proud to be an American.
Just thought I'd share."
Rick
Lt. Col
HQ USAF

WOW!! Isn't this memo great!

We've had a lot of bashing the President around here lately that it's been painful to come to FR. Some days I think I've wandered into DU *shudder, shudder*.

Hi Daisy! No, my family is north of Denver. But, they are getting all of the smoke from the fire. I am really sad and frightened by these fires. The one south of Denver has burned 76,000 acres. The fire in Glenwood Springs has burned 10,000 acres. My mom said that it is so dry. Please pray for the safety for the fire fighters and the residents of these areas. Also pray for rain, they need moisture! There are fires in Durango and Trinidad also. Thank you for asking. So far my family is safe.

I certainly will pray for the safety of the residents of Colorado and the brave firefighters and, most of all, RAIN....

Flames soar near Crystal Peak at Lake George, Colorado in the Hayman wildfire June 10, 2002. A ferocious wildfire closing in on the outskirts of metropolitan Denver devoured tens of thousands more acres, doubling in size and forcing the evacuation of as many as 30,000 people, officials said. The Guild already has a mandatory weekly reading list. Those would include

The National Enquirer
The Globe
STAR Magazine,

along with Page Six.

I guess we would read hardcover books, but I wouldn't want it to cut in to our serious business.

:)

Can someone please answer the question: Why is it that naked women threads are posted in Breaking News, but the Guild is relegated to "chat/General interest"? I'm really sick of the gratuitous picture threads. It reflects poorly on FR and really alienates 50% of the readers to FR.

I know!! The Bush bashing is disgusting! You wonder who has taken over FR. It's sad to think that at this time of war, any AMERICAN would bash their President. Even if you oppose his views on global warming or some such non-sense. I mean, pick your battles. It's nice to know that our military still loves and trusts Bush. Unlike Rush Limbaugh, who seems to be concerned with getting his name mentioned on the liberal news outlets with his Bush bashing.
I know I'm beating a dead horse with this Rush thing, but I feel like we "Freepers" have been screwed. Think about this. How many of us Freepers have had or have "The Limbaugh Letter, suscribe to 24/7, bought his books, bought a Limbaugh tie, or a Rush T-shirt?" I have. If it weren't for many of us here, Rush wouldn't be as rich as he is. We have supported him, and now he hates our President. WOW! Sad really. We Americans are so spoiled.

This is just a question, and I wonder how the rest of you feel about this. I don't know if you've given money to FR this time around, but do you think we might ask them to treat the Guild with more respect then just "Cheese." If not....................maybe we won't give? I mean, now is the time to let them know how we feel and how important we want to be taken. I think we are a daily, news worthy thread. What do you think? Money talks.

No, I haven't given yet. I don't know what to think about any of this. Most of the time, when I have dared to make a comment about the inappropriateness of a specific thread I get accused of being a spoiled-sport, or frigid or something along those lines. Not by the Admins, mind you, just by the guys on the threads. What's even worse is when a female says it's no big deal.

=( I don't know if holding back donations will make a difference or not. I just know that there seems to be a disparity b/w what the Admins allow in the News forum and what they stick in General Interest.

Jeanette Walls of MSNBC.com

FOX411 with Rodger Friedman.

As you know this is a HUGE gripe of mine. I give monthly because I feel that I take up bandwidth so it's only fair that I contribute.

The Guild has been around since January 2001. We are in the process of applying for tax exempt status as a charity so all our contributions to the Salvation Army during 9-11 and our donations to the USS Roosevelt and USS Kennedy can be tax deductible. As a group I think that we have made the most tangible monitary and investigative contributions than anyone. I don't read all threads but I do think that we are the most organized.

We are a daily thread, but no matter how many requests have been made, we can't get Daily Thread status. Of course there is a catagory for Moose and Cheese, but not for us.

We are NOT chat. I come to The Guild for news and comments, not for fluff and giggles.

I might also add that we have a lot of lurkers. When I was in San Francisco and met a lurker she said that for every one of us, there is at least 100 lurkers. We are popular even though people don't post. During our big drive to donate to the troops, I received email from people who were lurkers but signed up specifically to donate to us. How many times have people contacted me or the forum for our recipes! Do you know how important those threads are around holiday time? Again, more evidence that we are not fluff.

So there is my beef. As Lodwick stated earlier this month, Guilders are the highest contributing group to FR, yet we are stuck in the cheesehole, whereas ' Caption this Photo' and pure fluffy chit chat gets special status in the Big People Forum.

We are activists and we post news. Several of us are actively involved in the GOP as delegates, officials and candidates. We are even planning on meeting during the 2004 GOP Convention. I think it would be great if we could all be in attached rooms at the hotel and just have a huge slumber party. Of course we would never sleep because we would be busy chatting with old, yet recently met friends.

----------------------------------------------------------

AND ANOTHER THING!!!

Posters here look forward to our Oscar, Emmy, Beauty Pageant and political live threads. Can you imagine watching Miss Universe or Miss America alone without your pals to comment on who's butt is too big and who has fake boobs? Life wouldn't be worth living if we couldn't share with our friends.

Ok, I am done. <

Puter woes have slowed my reading here at FR, but I wanted to say GoodDay to everyone, and weigh in on the Fundraiser and NoGuildButton on the FR splash, as well as the BushBashers.

First I believe that anyone who posts anywhere on FR should donate monthly. Bandwidth costs money, and the Robinson family has expenses to meet just like you and I.

Whatever time I have remaining on this earth is way too valuable for me to waste it with idiots and disruptors that find their way to FR - I don't read their drivel, much less reply to it. You probably will have more success at teaching your cat to play the trombone than you will at trying to persuade a dim/lib to our way of thinking.

Not having a GuildButton sucks.
We all need to FReemail John and Jim Robinson and find out what's the prob.

Have a tremendous Tuesday gang. ;-)

The only arrival figure so far is TWIGGY at the Airport. She appears to be braless-just what we need to see - a 60 something woman braless. I presume she will change before the wedding ceremony?

Former model Twiggy arrives at Belfast International Airport en route to Castle Leslie in County Monaghan, Republic of Ireland, June 11, 2002. More than 300 guests were expected to attend the wedding between former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills due to take place at the 17th century castle on Tuesday. White House vandalism tops $20,000. Those Impeached Clinton punks stole Presidential seals, doorknobs, destroyed equipment, you name it. I can't get my Acrobat Reader to work, but there is the link to view the official report.

The report is up on the GAO website. The United States General Accounting Office. Click "GAO reports", "Today's Reports", and June 11, 2002.

They tore into them....hehehe.

OK, lets drop Jim and John a nice and cival note. We never cause any trouble and we are known around the world. Why can't we be taken more seroiusly?

Hello, all. It's been a busy day, though nothing even approaching HLL's morning! Teacup, I loved the "goosebumpy" Pentagon cafeteria story. HLL, good rant on the Guild's place in this world. We have developed such relationships here that the prospect of meeting one another in person is exciting. Mr. M and I are going to rendezvous with Timeout in Paris in October - can you beat that! Woo hoo. Billie, good to see you, as always. Whew! These few minutes at the computer are my time to sit and rest before I have to get ready for a town council meeting (covering it as a reporter as well as submitting a report as vice-chair of the development commission).

You're so right, and I was a dollar a day contributor last year, and plan to do the same this year. Ever since I decided this was better than getting the newspaper delivered, and having to bother to throw it away then too, not to mention the censoring that goes on in the local fishwrap, I decided to spend pretty much the same amount here at FR.

But HLL, you've got me thinking that maybe this is something to use for leverage in getting the Guild in the news section. We are certainly up on that, and people here post items as quickly or more quickly than others. So it does seem a bit unfair.
