From the Coca-cola/Mr Pibb site in reference to the Mr Pibb Extra
Mr. Pibb was launched in Texas and quickly expanded through much of the U.S. Mr. Pibb appeals to 12-to-15 year olds who are just gaining independence from home and looking for things to call their own.
I have enjoyed Mr Pibb most of my life.
It is my favorite soft drink.
As always when something is really great, it changes.
This new drink that is called Mr Pibb Extra is not my cup of tea.
I guess it would be ok if I had a choice between the Pibb and the Pibb Extra,
but there is no choice to be made.
Mr Pibb doesn't seem to exist anymore.
The new stuff seems so thin and unrefreshing.
I want the old fashioned, time tested, great tasting Mr Pibb back on the market.

The reason for this article is to get the opinions of others.
Am I just a stick in the mud or does this new Mr Pibb Extra really suck?
Please tell me what you think.
I have sent an e-mail to the company expressing my thoughts.
I know it will just be deleted along with the other junk mail.
However, if many thousands of people send them e-mails, then maybe they will stand up and take notice.
They are at
Mr Pibb.

The new stuff tastes like it was cut with tap water. Less fizz, less taste.
I predict this is a colossal miscue on Coca-Cola's part; one that will backfire like "New Coke" did.

You are so right. The old Pibb is much better and I just sent a comment to Coca-Cola to express that opinion. I have always chosen Mr.Pibb over Dr.Pepper, since it did have that kick and wasn't so flat and syrupy I am sure that there are many of us faithful Mr.Pibb drinkers out there. I feel very strongly about this. It's just like the Coca-Cola / New Coke DEBACLE. I would take most Coca-Cola product over the Pepsi or others. If they don't do fix this situation, I'm most likely to boycott 'em all.

I have received a acknowledgement from Coca-Cola, and a reference # from them. Poorman, did you receive this as well?

No, I have not recieved anything as of yet. I sure hope that more people send them e-mails. Maybe we can change their minds about this mistake they are making.

People I know that have had the new Vanilla Coke say it's pretty good.
To: socal_parrot
Yes. Vanilla Coke's good. Coca-Cola can obviously do SOMETHING right.
So what's their excuse for that awful Pibb Extra?
To: socal_parrot
The important factor involving Vanilla Coke has been overlooked. The all important factor is the consumer still has the choice between Coke and Vanilla Coke. That is the problem with the Pibb change. If there was a choice between Mr Pibb and Mr Pibb Extra, then I would have no grounds to stand on. I have no problem with the Mr Pibb Extra sharing the shelf with the Mr Pibb Classic

I now have a reference number. I hope that they will read my letter. That reply was generated automatically. I wonder if we have any chance of making a difference to a large corp.
