It worked for me! I just told them that I was the primary caregiver to two small children and had no one to watch them. They excused me.

Probably depends on how nice the folks doing the selecting are. ;) I was surprised that they didn't excuse her.
I'm about the only one in my family that hasn't been picked lately. My brother ended up on the jury of a murder trial...I don't envy him at all. It was rough for him.

I know it...and some day I fully intend to do my duty...but if I'd done this, I would have had to have left the boys with my parents...something I rarely do.
My brother did a jury duty for a child abuse case and it really tore him up...

PurpleQ is on jury duty this week in Waco. I'm kinda anxious to get there on Friday and see what kind of case she got.
I'm weird, I've been called for jury one time in my life. It was a trial that lasted 2 days and I had a blast! As some of those little quirky things in life would have it another friend and co-worker was called at the same time for jury duty and we ended up on the same jury!
This was back home. Small rural place - ya know. The judge is a casual acquaintance. My lawyer is one of my closest friends. He was in court those days on another matter. He also rides Harleys. So, I rode my bike to the courthouse those days.
I had lunch each day with my lawyer and one of the days the judge joined us because of crowding in the restaurant. First some of the other jurers were lookin' at me pretty weird for being up there in my riding leather etc. (it was winter) And then they were even more astonished at who I was having lunch with.
All in all I really messed with people's heads those days. And my friend from work thought it was pretty funny. He accuses me of freaking people out on purpose!
Thing is, in a sparsely populated place like that you can't keep from knowing people. And I knew the woman who had brought charges against the guy was a vindictive witch. We had crossed paths before. So, the guy got off. He deserved to get off, he didn't do anything wrong. But, it was a fun experience.

Well...good things CAN happen on jury duty, too!
When my Mom was called, there was a couple that met each other during jury duty. They would go to lunch together every day. One thing led to another and...when I last saw them, they had two kids and had just purchased their first home. ;)
Ugh...you know, I've never had allergies, but there is some BAD pollen or something in the air lately. My eyes and nose are itchy and I can't stop sneezing!

I went to an engineering university (wound up with a BS in Electrical Engineering). It was a maxim among us engineers-to-be that the people who couldn't hack the engineering curriculum became tech writers. At Texas Tech, it's kinda funny to watch. EE to ME to CE to IE then on to Business Administration. I saw it happen over and over. Too many people get into engineering school because of the higher than avg $$ but have zero aptitude for it.
I had been building radios, etc. since age 9, and ended up top of my class.

Ohhh...yeah, that would make sense.
Lookin' at the PetsMart page for dog cleaning stuff...they have a breed guide there. I'd be embarrassed to own this thing:
People actually BREED the things?
To: Prof Engineer
EE to ME to CE to IE then on to Business Administration.Yeah, I saw plenty of that too... although we considered EE and ME to be fairly even in difficulty, CE was definately a drop down. It was almost a certainty that anyone who started his freshman year as "Engineering Undeclared" would wind up as a CE, if he finished with any engineering degree at all.
Good morning!

That looks like some chimaera out of Middle Ages bestiary... you know, the kind that would mix characteristics from 2 or 3 different animals into one mythical beast...
