This from a country that cannot subdue Chechnya? I don't think they'd get very far.

Glad someone thinks straight. China and India, I read, also consider such policy, soon Japan and others. US open up new reality so it is normal for all greater power to follow.

Mean while Bush Doctrine say strike even if percieved threat is years off...which more imperialistic? Or is it double standard?

"did not imagine that the Kremlin would become so overt so early on. I thought they would stick in a few more knives before starting to twist them."

The article does NOT say ANYWHERE that Russia is going to preemptively attack NATO!

The headline is misleading - Reread the article!

The only conspiracy I see is on the part of NATO.

NATO commander says Black Sea of strategic importance for enlarged alliance

The Black Sea is going to become a very strategic path for the flow of ressources," Johnson said.

"The Bulgarian navy could play a very substantive role for the security of the southeastern flank of NATO.

(It) can provide a valuable contribution for our collective security with proactive deployments in the Black Sea."

--------------

"Proactive" NATO deployments in the Black Sea, eh? Bosnia to Kosovo to FYROM to Bulgaria and on to.......

Proactive: acting in anticipation of future problems, needs, or changes.

Actually, not that it matter, there is question of whether Tsar sold or leased for 99 years Alaska.

The headline is NOT misleading. Russia threatened to attack, Russia didn't say it would attack for sure.

Not mind fact that Bere is swindler, liar, imbezzler, sponsorer of Chechin terrorists and Communists (of whom BM make so much noise of being against...but I guess not against their sponsorer) .... I state to him, he prove self to be opportunist.

causing harm to America and the free West

Last I check it is most "free" West who against America loudest...you know US "allie" France, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Norway, Denmark and other. It was Putin who push Chirak and Shroader to sign UN bill that help Bush and it Putin who kill Kyoto which would hurt most America...and America did sign on to it even if not ratify.

There's still another 10 years to correct that problem before it gets too out of control.

Rub it in. And how are you handling those pesky ex-Republic immigrants these days? And how do you suggest we deal with the Mexican immigrants? Our constitution specifically prohibits shooting them.

Iran is not anyone's ally (indeed, they are openly aiding Islamists operating in Chechnya and Western China, to the extreme discomfort of Russia and China).

You are misinformed. Islamists in Chechnya were supported by the Saudies and some other Arab countries. Shiites were not involved there.
