Hi everyone, Ive been absent for almost a year now, and have finally come back to my senses regarding political activism. I would like to know what i can do to help re-elect George W Bush. Thank you in advance.
GWB 2004!! Huyah!
Move to Ohio? :)
Last night at our Cleveland County Republican Women's Club BBQ, Congressman Istook asked any of us that had the time and resources to contact him about going into neighboring states to help out with BC'04.
Since you are next door to Oregon and Washington, you might want to contact your Congressman or Senators and ask how you can help. Cong Istook was asking us to go to MO, AR, and CO to help. I was left with the impression the Congressional people are helping find volunteers to visit neighboring states when your state is in the Bush column. Our state of Oklahoma ranks #1 or #2 depending on the info as the safest for Pres Bush.
Oklahoma has printed up yard signs and bumperstrips for Bush-Cheney '04 which will be blanketing our state. Might want to check with your State Victory 2000 group to see if you can help them out as well.
:-)
Check with the Washington State and Oregon State Republican Parties and the Bush Campaigns in those states. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you driving over there to help out on the weekends.
My solution has always been to find Reagan-Republicans running elsewhere and contribute to them. The first time I did this I contributed to former-marine Steve Symms' campaign against Frank Church. I've also travelled to New Hampshire to give guys like Chuck Douglas and Robert Boyce get elected.
There are a few guys in tough races this year who are in similar positions. Two that come to mind right away are Renzi in Arizona and Burr in North Carolina. I think other freepers can come up with more examples, but both of these guys are Reagan-Republicans and could use a few bucks if you can spare it.
If you can travel, you might consider running over to Oregon to give the GOP a hand there.
Living in Texas, I know what you mean. Also, where I am registered, my US congressional, state senate, and state house districts are all SAFE republican. So in all reality, my vote is meaningless -- but I will definitely vote anyway!
The way I try to support Bush, besides sending a contribution, is to maintain a positive attitude about Bush's performance, his chances of victory, and the GOP agenda in general. I really believe this is the best way to sway the independent vote -- Reagan was masterful in this regard.
I was invited by the Bush Campaign to host a convention watching party on Sept 2, however, the Fightin' Texas Aggies open their season that evening, so I doubt if any of my friends would come.
But I wouldn't worry about Bush. I can already tell that we are about to witness another 1988-style blowout of a Massachusetts liberal. I particularly like my friend's analogy: the Kerry campaign is like a big lake with a leaky, failing dike, with the major media putting %110 of their effort into plugging those leaks. But, there's only so long they can keep that dike plugged, before disaster strikes.
My friends, sit back and enjoy!!!
If you have a cell phone with free wkds, you can volunteer to do phone calls to people in another state on the weekends at no cost to yourself.

Print out and wear as a Campaign Button or go HERE to print.
Feel free to reuse this anywhere you wish...
Even if you're not able to work in a battleground
state, your help in Idaho, or for that matter
Massachusetts, is still valuable. Why? Because it
would be very helpful for Bush politically to win
the popular vote. And in the popular vote, every
individual vote, regardless of the state, counts
equally.
Perhaps you could pass them out at a college football game that features an opponent from a "battleground state" or at some other event or tourist spot.
Great ideas.
The Dems and the media make a big deal about Bush's forest policies. IMO, the best way to undermine the Dems and media's credibility in the state is to question the Dem's and media's position on carbon and toxic gas emissions from poorly managed forests and the threat posed to the state and region's air quality by poorly regulated fuel loads in "managed" forests. Preventable emissions of carbon and toxic gases from unregulated fuel loads affects the health of everyone in the state and region, including tourists visiting Idaho and neighboring states.
We have a real battle in Pa., the race is tight. Attended a rally for Bush today in Johnstown, 7000 jammed into a small arena, what a supercharged atmosphere. The president was just great, a regular guy who just clicks with people. I predict 40 states for Bush, but don't stop working.
