Kerry's SECOND Silver Star with a V

Posted on 08/28/2004 7:59:57 PM PDT by Cadet Happy

For context, VC is the puppy who could fly that Kerry supposedly saved from the village wok in Vietnam. That's a whole 'nother tall tale that is seeping out. I can hardly keep track of them all!

Kerry citation a 'total mystery' to ex-Navy chief (John Lehman)***Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature.

"It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he said.

The additional language varied from the two previous citations, signed first by Adm. Elmo Zumwalt and then Adm. John Hyland, which themselves differ. The new material added in the Lehman citation reads in part: "By his brave actions, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (jg) Kerry reflected great credit upon himself...." ***

'V' for valor or Kerry's version?*** ....On Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times ran a similar story by Thomas Lipscomb, who spoke to B.G. Burkett, author of "Stolen Valor" and recipient of the Army's highest award given to a civilian, the Distinguished Civilian Service Award. For his book, Mr. Burkett had to read thousands of military records to uncover phony claims of awards. "I've run across several claims for Silver Stars with combat 'V's, but they were all in fake records," he told Mr. Lipscomb.

Mr. and Mrs. Holzer bring up another interesting point. Over at JohnKerry.com, the Navy citation for Mr. Kerry's Silver Star does not mention the combat "V". It appears, then, that the Navy didn't mistakingly grant a "V" with Mr. Kerry's Silver Star. So, how did it get into Mr. Kerry's DD 214? .... ***

I heard Liscombe talking about this last night on Drudge. It has flabbergasted me that Kerry does not or will not give an explanation for this.

Maybe I just haven't seen it, but if he made this up or doctored his record on this, he is done. Liscomb stated that the Navy told him that it is totally wrong that Kerry has the "V"!

Perhaps Kerry got out his trusty typewriter and ran up the citation and his aide took it over and the auto pen signed it.

Well, of course that's the speculation, but can you think of any way this could have been screwed up somehow by the Navy when they state there is NO WAY he would have been awarded a "V"?

All I can think of is those service men and woman who died in VN and this man, at the very least, was such an opportunist to go around what he was denied in the first place to receive his first PH.

Show what that "V" represents and that there was no way he could have received it, and he is done! Btw, Liscomb stated that he had more stuff. Do you know of anyone other than Liscomb that is reporting on this?

You know that I think that all this SBV stuff is not helpful, but I will admitt that because of what that "V" represents if Kerry in anyway faked this, it needs to be investigated thoroughly.
