Not Just What You Do, But How You Do It That Matters!

Bay Village Is a Fantastic Community

We Plan To Make It Affordable Again

It saddens me to see families - both young and old alike - to put up For Sale signs in the yards due to high property taxes. I am running for mayor because I am convinced Bay families need Tax Relief and they need it soon! Seniors are facing a daunting tax burden that I am convinced is disproportionate. The average families here in Bay are weighing whether or not they can afford to reside here much longer. We are losing people, who are otherwise quite happy to live here, due to this city's SPEND AND TAX patterns. I openly agree that Bay is a fantastic place to live, but in order to fully tap its potential, I see my job as the Chief Executive Officer, to make Bay Village affordable again. Money doesn't grow on trees. We cannot continue to expect citizens to be bled dry by city leaders. Other West Shore communities are only too happy to see Bay residents flock to their city. I will work hard to be the architect of Common Sense, Fiscal Prudence and Conservative Leadership. We must reign in these loosey-goosey budgets and look to revenue streams - not ongoing tax hikes - to solve the challenges that face our department heads. I will turn back the hands of time and we will be the small, quaint, New-England-style charmer of a town that is more prone factoring in the wishes of the people than the agenda of City Hall's "Elite" and we'll do that by inviting dialogue, opening up meeting room doors and end the practice of secrecy and last-minute notice at the 11th hour. As your mayor, I will not be so darn fast to spend other people's hard-earned money or exhibit the desire to change the face of Bay Village. I will protect quality of life issues and social programs with innovative revenue-producing ideas - NOT SPEND AND TAX, SPEND AND TAX, SPEND AND TAX... We do not need to go out with thousands of newsletters that will plaster my photo on the front page, giving me, as your mayor, FREE PUBLICITY AND CAMPAIGN LITERATURE every 3 months. It's one thing to have a newsletter. It's quite another to have nothing to talk about other than that darn Marathon Station, wasting the people's time and resources re-hashing issues that should have been solved two Administrations ago! It's high time we slowed down the spending and got back to basics. We will protect Bay's identity and not try to spend money in order to keep up with Westlake. I say, let Westlake be Westlake and let Bay be Bay. Let's not tinker with a good thing and cause citizens to pay for some politician's need to keep up with the Jones'. Citizens eventually have to pay for these grand plans, and while we can point to new Police Stations and niceities, we must carefully appreciate what the impact is to our residents, our families, our seniors and our children. It's not Utopia if we're chasing people out of their homes because we've taxed them to death. Moderation, more careful spending and business minds are what we need. It's also very important how well we communicate to our stakeholders. Last-minute notice, talking down to people or making folks feel badly about themselves is not the qualities of Leadership that I look for when I think of great public servants. If you want to choose partnering over Patriarchy, write letters, send in editorials, make calls, send faxes or share your thoughts via e-mail. Put out signs. Display bumper stickers. Walk beside me. Let me count on your support.

You see, I want to return City Hall to the people, allowing them to once again feel welcome, valued and involved in the community. So, to squelch any assumptiveness that I am simply running in order to be "AGAINST DEBBIE," let me assure you that is not the case. This is not a race about Good vs. Evil. Personality issues are not what I am hanging my hat on. But if Organizational Management is a science, then Leadership Styles and Communication styles need to be factored into the equation. If you believe that it's not simply what you do - it's how you do it - then you understand part of my effort to affect Change at City Hall. We have an entrenched government and it's gotten to the point where citizens get treated like outsiders who are interfering with City Hall's business. That is regretable. Asking questions, challenging viewpoints or disagreeing are not reasons to dispatch folks as being persona non grata. If elected to mayor, I will welcome and understand the fact that dissention is normal and healthy. It's what keeps folks honest and it serves to chizel out outcomes that promote fairness and equity for the citizenry. This is why there are substantial differences between our mayor and myself. In the coming months, I hope you see in me much more than someone who is running "against the incumbent." My plans for Bay and innovative ideas will breathe life back into common sense, courtesy and mutual respect - traits that are essential for City Hall to be a well-oiled machine that can lead - not merely "manage." I trust you will be confident that I have the best plans, ideas and attitudes when it comes to optimizing this city's people, processes and technologies. My name is Bruce Cobbeldick. I am asking for your support. Thank you.

Mr. "Cobbeldick", it would help if we knew where the heck your office will be.

I can't find a state for "Bay Village" anywhere in your post nor within the links I viewed on your cluttered website (not a good sight for someone who is supposed to be a "consultant".

Please tell us your missing details or you can expect your post to be ridiculed.

Ok, kids. I agree, the rest of the nation does not give a hoot (anything West of NYC's 7th Ave doesn't count) about Washington State Rats stealing the Governor's election. Even our big hero Drudge is yawning (speaking of jumping the shark).
So we are on our own. Orange ribbons in down town Seattle. Plaster the place. Over passes, doors. Where ever!

Get in Lib's faces. Make them sweat. Stop apologizing, damn it. Sit down and be civil disobedient. Get on the news. We must do this truely like the Ukie's did.

That is the only way I can think of getting national attention and some legal action against the F.L's (Hint: one of the letters stands for Liberal)

We will not go away!

Scott Ohio

I found it interesting about the remark saying
"tell us where you are or you can expect your post
to be ridiculed."

OH NO!!! NOT THAT!!! Scott, my dear lad, I spent too many
years around cigar-smoking Marine Corps Colonels and Sergeants Major to worry about being "ridiculed." I fully expect some ridiculing. Leadership can be mighty lonely.
I know that, and more importantly, I am prepared for it.

If you are talking to Scott, address your reply to him, not to me.

I didn't ask where you were. I answered the question.
