HOT SPRINGS - Attorney General Jerry W. Kilgore attacked his presumed rival for the 2005 governor's race today and took a stand against tax increases.
The Republican spoke to a packed luncheon meeting at the Virginia GOP's 21st annual "Advance" at The Homestead resort.
Kilgore, who is expected to receive his party's nomination to face Democratic Lt. Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, assailed Kaine as "John Kerry with a Richmond address."
Kilgore pledged to resist tax hikes and said the recent projected state budget surplus showed he was right when he spoke out against increases enacted in the last General Assembly session.

Virginia ping! I'm not a ping-list person. Should we do one ping per new thread? Some people find over-pinging annoying.
Kilgore ROCKS...MUD
His big problem is the whole eavesdropping fiasco. He needs to figure out a way to deal with that.
Right. I noticed even though Kilgore reported the eavesdropping immediately and thereby absolving himself of any wrongdoing, the Dems have managed, with the help of liberal partisans at the RTD and WP to keep the story afloat. In the end it will be a non-issue. The guilty parties have long been run out of town on a rail.
Plus, he was an extremely feeble, uninspiring candidate...I voted fer him, but it really wasn't on account on anything he'd ever done!!
FReegards...MUD
What's Kilgore's stance on the car tax?
He's on record opposing tax increases. I don't know about the car tax. Once he gets his campaign website up we can pin down his positions on a wider array of issues.
That will be one I will be intently following.
Me, too!
RICHMOND Attorney General Jerry Kilgore made the following statement today concerning the final passage of revenue bills by the House of Delegates and Senate:"Today is a sad day for the hardworking men and women of Virginia and their families. The vote by the House and Senate tells the people of Virginia that while the economy is recovering they are going to have to work even harder to make their budgets work at home.
"The capping of Car Tax relief breaks faith with the citizens who were told that the tax would be gradually phased out. In fact, what this cap does is to begin to gradually reinstate the Car Tax.
"Additionally, failing to repeal the Death Tax will continue the undue burden on small businesses and family farms and force the sale of assets simply to pay the taxes on the businesses and farms people spent their lives building."
I think that's where he stands, yes.
That would be my guess.
I meant to thank you in my last reply for finding that link and I forgot, so THANKS!
You're welcome. Thanks for posting the text.
No problemo.
