Third parties will never win the presidency. The electoral college makes it virtually impossible, even when extremely popular former Presidents (i.e. Teddy Roosevelt) run on a third party ticket.

HOWEVER --

Third parties can and HAVE been elected to statewide offices, including many third party governors in the history of this nation. It's rare, but it happens. Given the historic record, I'd say a third party candidate has a better shot at winning the governship than the possiblity of a buisnessman who has never held any office getting the job after losing three times before. (i.e. your guy Oberweis) The history books would agree with that assessment.

It's all about what kind of campaign you run. Angus King and Jesse Ventura were called "spoilers" and they were sworn in. Cal Skinner supporters hyped him as the second coming of Pat O'Malley but in reality he got less votes than the Libertarian candidate for Attorney General who wasn't even campaigning! Clearly 2002 was not the year for a "third party" nominee, but 2006 may very well be.

I say this as a lifelong Republican. I don't vote "third party" solely I disagree with the "main" candidate on an issue or two. We have two corrupt socialists as the "main" party nominees. It's now or never.

MAINE GOVERNOR – GENERAL ELECTION 1994

Angus King (IND.), 35%
Joe Brennan (DEM). 34%
Susan Collins (RINO), 23%
Jack Carter (GRN) 6.4%
Ed Finks (NP) 1.3%

Note that King won by the skin of his teeth. If just a handful of additional conservatives had vote for communist Brennan just to "stop Collins and send her a message", they would have been stuck with four more years of total RAT control of Maine. Any GOP vote NOT cast for Collins contributed to her defeat, so why conservatives would want to vote for a marxist is beyond me.

If you think Blago's "record" is worthy of voting FOR him to continue wreaking this state, then vote for him. If not, then you are in no position to whine the Brady people were helpign to advance the liberal agenda. Your vote in November will help monkey boy impliment more socialism. My candidate may not win, but he sure as well will not assist Blago or Topinka with their destruction of this state.

William Weld was one of the worst governors Massacuttes ever had. He is a backstabbing RINO to the core and is not fit to be village idiot, let alone Governor. He's running for NY Governor now. Suppose he decided to run for the Senate instead. Would you actually vote FOR the likes of Hillary Clinton just to "stop Weld"? EITHER way you are simply assisting the liberals with their agenda.

You guys spent the entire primary whining the ONLY acceptable vote was the conservative YOU wanted and anything else "split the conservative vote". Well in November it will be easy not to "split the conservative vote". Simply tell Topinka and Blago to go to hell and vote for the ONLY conservative in the race.

A plague on both of their houses.
