NAWER in a strongly worded letter asked Judge Jones to make the just decision today. Judge Jones today bravely defied his critics that said the unions would simply go free. NAWER rejoices with New Yorkers today that Local 100's fine of $2,500,000 and the end to dues check off foreshadows the end to illegal union strikes that imperil the good people of New York City post 9/11.

Judge Jones action clearly spells the end of Unions dodging responsibility for strike actions thinking themselves above the law. Unions can longer hide behind the financial guise that the damage to them is higher than the damage to the American people. Billions were lost by New York businesses before Christmas while millions of dollars in union dues and union Boss salaries totaling over a million dollars kept the unions above the pain and chaos they had wrought. Judge Jones understood the people of New York deserved compensation for their suffering and enacted the most stringent Taylor law penalties.

"Judge Jones acted for the benefit of the victims of Local 100. Why Toussaint would put the interests of a few union bosses over those of millions of victimized American citizens is beyond me," said Will Fine, Executive Director of the Alliance.

"The December strike was a gun to head of all New Yorkers. Judge Jones did not side with the thugs and union hierarchy, the unions have turned their back on the people of New York and the American taxpayers."

Fine concluded his letter to Judge Jones by stating, "Your actions will set a strong example of responsibility that never again can we allow union strikes to hold hostage a good city that had been and is so threatened from abroad. Enforcing the Taylor Law will bring great stability and assurance to all New Yorkers- make the streets and subways safe so our right to work is always free."

The National Alliance for Worker and Employer Rights is a non- partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing freedom in the workplace.

YEEEESSSSSS!!! I was merely inconvenienced while trying to get from Kennedy Airport out to the Metro North trains, however I don't support illegal strikes where ever they happen.

A very interesting decision.

Usually the unions have all government officials including judges corrupted.
