In the latest Rasmussen Reports election poll of the Kansas gubernatorial race, Democratic Governor Kathleen Sebelius continues to enjoy healthy leads over the two Republicans with the best chance of facing her this fall.
Sebelius now leads former state House Speaker Robin Jennison 51% to 31%, a slight improvement for the governor since our last survey.
Sebelius leads State Senator Jim Barnett 49% to 36%. Again, close to what we saw last time.

As far as I can tell, she hasn't been a particularly Governor. Why she has support in heavily GOP Kansas is beyond me.

Topeka and Wichita have Republican Mayors and aren't leftist. Kansas City and Lawrence are the more Democrat/Left bastions. The problem is that you have places like Johnson County (Olathe/Overland Park) filled to the brim with RINO squishes. Kansas has 3 political parties (the Democrats, of which sometimes have been fairly social Conservatives; Conservative Republicans; and "Moderate" (Liberal) RINOs). Kansas has NOT elected a Conservative Republican Governor since Bill Avery in 1964. On at least 2 other occasions (1974 & 1990), the RINOs who were competing were running against Democrats more Conservative than they (DINO Attorney General Vern Miller, who lost to RINO Bob Bennett in '74; RINO incumbent Gov. Mike Hayden (who now works as a department head for Gilligan-Sebelius) was defeated by disgruntled Conservative Republican turned DINO Joan Finney in '90).
I remember studying the 1974 elections (gave me acid reflux) and Robert Bennett lost to Vern Miller on a recount. If Vern Miller is still alive, I would be he's a Republican now.
