This race is looking good! Her election can help bring some energy to Alaska's conservative grass roots.
This is a surprise to me. I thought for sure that the pro-"medicinal" marijuana, "former Governor Tony Knowles (D)" would run away with this one. I hope Sarah can pull this one off.
It looks very promising. When you look very closely at Knowles' electoral record, his victories are more reflective of weak opposition than his own political strength.
I saw another poll showing Knowles not even making it to 30%. That had to have been the worst night of his campaign when Frank came in 3rd, as the race was "done." If I were Tony, I'd probably withdraw from the race to avoid major embarrassment and let Ethan Berkowitz have at it. EB has nothing to lose, but this will be Tony's swan song for political office (unless he wants to return to being Anchorage Mayor when Mark Begich retires).
That is awesome news!
Yeah, I can see that. From what I recall, the party up there had a lot of in-fighting.
I really like what little I've seen of Sarah. I hope she can pull it off.
Hope she wins. Ted Stevens isn't getting any younger..
It's not a new charge -- that Palin mixed her campaign and her job as Wasilla mayor when running for lieutenant governor in 2002. Her opponents want it to stick, because one reason Palin is a household name in Alaska is that she outed Republican Party chief Randy Ruedrich for leaking a confidential document to a lobbyist, and performing political work from his state job, while both served on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. The Voice of the Times, a separate editorial section within the opinion pages of the Daily News, made the original public records request that produced many of the documents that Murkowski's campaign handed out Thursday, including a stack of telephone records, e-mails -- such as a campaign note from her mayor e-mail address to Ruedrich -- and invoices from Wasilla city hall
Sarah had to take on the Party big oil. She won for now. See how many are retuning their big oil campaign checks.
No one wants to have to report "BIG OIL" money to APOC. no one wants to answer the consulting fee question. The FBI is now asking the question.
"They don't have to pay anyone any landing fees for the stuff, and they got all of you kicked out. Now they just have to worry about that new Governor. She may be new to Juneau, but not new to politics. And like they say, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog."
Shame that Murkowski and his gang has been so out of touch; proof is Palin's 51% showing. I figured Matsu & Anch would go big for Palin (they have watched her record for some time), but even out here along the Yukon River most Repubs went big for Palin, over the Fairbanks local Binkley.
I just hope the Repubs don't shoot themselves in the foot as usual; as they have been trying to destroy Palin for years. Palin can secure a repub gov for alaska into the nx decade; as people are demanding the change.
