Don Young decides to return money for seafood (more scandal in Alaska)

Congressman Don Young is going to reimburse a seafood trade association the full amount for seafood after all.

Young has agreed to reimburse the Pacific Seafood Processors Association $5,583 for the cost of providing food at his annual "Crab Feed" fundraiser for the past seven years.

Young's campaign treasurer says the association sent an e-mail that said it had made in-kind contributions that needed to be disclosed. Robert Bohnert, Young's campaign treasurer, says the campaign was not aware of the contributions until it received the e-mail.

Originally, the campaign was going to reimburse the trade association only part of the money, citing a statute of limitations.

The campaign reversed course and decided last week to reimburse the full amount.

Young's campaign manager, Steven Dougherty, refuses to comment on the issue.

Didn’t know about this. There are other, more major problems in Alaska politics.

Don Young and Ted Stevens should step down. Their time has passed.

I would agree, if the rest of the senators and congressmen currently under investigation or charged with a crime did the same.

Sen. Clinton comes to mind.

I lived in Alaska from ‘74 to ‘04. Let me tell you my fun Don Young story. I recall years ago a photo came out of Young’s Ft Yukon “home”. At that time it showed a construction site type trailer on a lot. I just googled for a photo of his Ft Yukon home and came up with this:

http://www.adn.com/news/politics/alaska_ear/story/9173985p-9090499c.html

Looks like he has moved on up in the world. LOL

I stopped voting for him, Stevens, and Murkowski long ago. Simply because I thought they were acquirering too much power. When Murkowski picked his daughter to fill his Senate seat I knew it was time for him to go. Oh, when the field of candidates to fill his seat was really whittled down Ben Stevens, Ted Stevens son, was being talked about as well. He wisely bowed out. I guess even he thought it might be a bit much for the people to take. I really hate family political dynasties. With the current scandals involving Alaskan politicians all I can say to people who time after time have voted these clowns back in is....You asked for it.

Lemme see, that's about $797 per Crab Feed fundraiser for the last seven years. That can't be real crab, it's gotta be the faux Krab, or some other cheap seafood. Or else only 10 or so backers attend.
