Darin LaHood, a Peoria lawyer and the 39-year-old son of U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood, said Thursday he's formed an exploratory committee to run for the congressional seat being given up by his father.
"I'm getting very close to making a decision to run for this congressional district," LaHood said as he attended a GOP breakfast in Springfield on the State Fair's Republican Day.
The younger LaHood said voters want "people that have experience to get into this race, and at this point, I don't think they're satisfied with the candidates who have announced."

Political dynasties are not good for the country. While there are cases where supporting the offspring of a departing incumbent is justified (Duncan Duane Hunter, for example), this is not one of those cases.

Great. The state party will make sure he wins.
At the same time, it does reassure those who feared that Aaron Schock would be a LaHood puppet. Obviously he isn’t, or this woudln’t be happening.
