Mayor Tim Baldermann confirmed Tuesday he's running for Congress and has assembled a list of Republican juggernauts to run his campaign.

Baldermann, who also has experience as a school board president and village trustee, said an official announcement will be coming later this week. The official announcement will include a list of at least a dozen officials who will support the 41-year-old in his bid for the 11th District seat that is up for grabs since Morris Republican Jerry Weller announced his upcoming retirement.

This race was becoming a huge headache, as the Democrats were able to recruit their top choice.

I take it this district leans GOP. Hopefully now we can hold it.

Weller’s race will be tough to hold. Although Tim Baldermann is the best canddiate to muster up.

BTW with the Va Senate looking like a lock for Marky Mark, Tom Davis might run for re-election of his house seat instead.

Yes, the district leans GOP. Weller is in his 7th term, and he usually got 55%-60% of the vote. I hope that Chris McNeil runs. He’s a conservative who ran for st. rep. in 2006, and he lost the primary to a RINO incumbent. Chris is considering the race.

Weller’s seat won’t be tough to hold. Weller usually got 55%-60% of the vote. Three of the four state senators, in that congressional district, are Republicans.
