Fred weighs in on "robo-dial bigotry" (Push-polls against Romney)

From the desk of Todd Harris, communications director to Fred Thompson:
"There is no room for this kind of smut in a Republican primary election. While there are certainly issues our campaigns disagree on, we are united by far more than that which divides us. One of our candidates is going to emerge from this process as the standard bearer for all Republicans, and we will need a united party to win next year. This kind of robo-dial bigotry which tears down Republicans today will only serve to prop up Democrats tomorrow. It has to end and end now."
TOPICS: Iowa; Massachusetts; New Hampshire; South Carolina; Tennessee; Campaign News; Issues; Parties; Polls
KEYWORDS: bigotry; dirtytricks; electionpresident; elections; fredthompson; gop; ia2008; lds; mittromney; mormonism; nh2008; pushpolls; religion; republicans; sc2008; unity
Another example of character and leadership from Fred Thompson. Where are Rudy, John, Mike, Ron and Duncan on this? I hope they don't condone the ugly practice.

I thought you might find this interesting - it’s like someone is reading my mind...
I will admit, I’m a Sentor Thompson backer. I was one of those who was ridiculed here for saying he should run when everyone thought he was comfortably retired from politics.
This is that attitude, tone, and agenda that the GOP needs. Whether it be Senator Thompson or another, we need a united front and a strong central platform.

I don't think pissant is still posting under that moniker. Seems he was just a bit too over the top. No loss as far as I am concerned. And I would bet Duncan Hunter wouldn't disagree, as he is a class act and a great conservative as well as FDT.
Fred really needs to close the gap with MittOmni!

And that is the tone I saw this morning when I met FDT and his wife and daugher. He looked great.. much better than any pictures or tv appearances I've seen. He is a very engaging speaker, yet I did watch for uh's and ah's and head bobs. There were none. A well delivered speech, without notes, that didn't sound like he was reciting it for the 100th time.
Had a nice visit with Jeri and Hayden (sp?). Talked mainly about kids and how they go and grow up on us too fast. lol
And the Ron Paul folks who chose to attend were, as far as I could see, very well behaved. (well, their signs were obnoxiously large)

I like the speed with which Thompson and his campaign responds when issues like this arise. Considering Mitt blamed McCain/Feingold, it was a hit at both McCain and at him, so his swift response makes his position clear on these tactics. But Mitt is a big boy and the last thing we need is for him to start playing the victim of faith discrimination while Hillary trying to get sympathy on the gender card. It’s wimpy. I hope for better from all of our GOP candidates so the electorate sees a clear difference.

Methinks thou dost protest too much. For weeks now, you have stood by and let anti-Mormon bigotry proliferate on these discussion boards. I called it bigotry, and I suffered insults for calling a spade a spade. Will you now join with me in reporting to the moderators such un-American attacks? John has decried the attacks.

Excuse me? Not sure who I accused of what. I have just noticed pissant's account has been pulled and I saw a warning from the owner to him on a thread yesterday, to tone it down a bit. And I will maintain that Mr. Hunter is a class person and I don't think he would run down his opponents in the manner that pissant did or some of his other supporters.
As far as "behind his back", last time I checked this was still a public forum.
You will certainly take the "last word" on this subject as I can't think of any reason to continue this exchange.
Have a great evening!

No it is not and what you just said right there is a blatant falsification of the record. You should get a job writing push-poll questions. Try leading by example and then you might actually, one day, be LEADING.

I was on that thread when pissant was zotted. I was also on the thread when pissant was warned by Jim Robinson. So if anyone was falsely accusing pissant, it would have to be Jim Robinson.
I think JR was right, and pissant ignored the warning and continued with the same behavior he/she was warned about.
This is a public forum and posters certainly know how to read.
Where do you get this stuff? The poster you accused was acting on a decision made by the owner of the forum. It is his forum and he has the right to make rules and enforce them. Last time I checked you are not the owner of the forum.

I got a Romney push poll 2 nights ago. Pretended to be a presidential preference survey. When I did not pick Romney, the guy said: “Can I read you a list of Governor Romney’s actions against illegal immigration in Massachusetts?” I just laughed.

DSOC. Of course, some of them claim otherwise. They don’t seem to realize we can see their posting history.
I think I’ll just tell the whiners that since I have NO respect for them, I don’t care about their “unbiased” opinion.

DSOC. Of course, some of them claim otherwise. mom, don't stop posting the graphics. The DSOC have been trying to silence us for months. If they don't like the graphics, they have the choice to turn off images in their browsers.
The only complaint I ever had about my graphics was the first one was too large for someone who used her palm pilot or something to FReep and it took too long to load. I don't use it much anymore.

I still like it though :)

It was very cool! And he and Jeri couldn't not have been more approachable and grateful. Even tho Hayden was on the stage during most of the speech, she was well behaved and not disruptive at all. I'm not sure either of my girls at 4 yrs old could have done that! lol
Having seen FDT speak in person sealed my support of him. The speech can be found at www.weartv.com. Any question I had about his health playing an issue in his abilities was erased. He looked healthy and vibrant and confident.
