CHARLESTON — West Virginia supporters of Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson expect to welcome his wife to the Mountain State on Monday.
Jeri Thompson is scheduled to meet with supporters and volunteers in Charleston, though the campaign’s state chapter says details were still being finalized.
Thompson would be at least the third presidential candidate’s spouse to include West Virginia on the 2008 campaign trail.
Former President Bill Clinton raised cash for his wife’s Democratic bid while in town for last month’s Jefferson-Jackson Dinner keynote appearance.
The wife of Democratic White House hopeful John Edwards was to headline an October fundraiser in Charleston, but travel problems forced her to attend via conference call instead.

West Virginia gave JFK the Dem. nomination in 1960. It was about money spent in the WV primary that Joe Kennedy said, “Don’t buy another vote,I won’t pay for a landslide.”

She’s really cute like a Barbie Doll, but I like what she has to say. She’s not a lightweight. She’s smart. She’d make a cute first lady. I’d love to see those kids playing in the White House too.
An excellent interview with Laura. She’s even better than Fred with this particular interviewer.
She seems smart and articulate. If she can keep her cool with the hostile MSM then she will be a real campaign asset.
