Mike Huckabee: Women Should Submit To Their Husbands
Crooks and Liars ^ | December 11th, 2007 | Logan Murphy

Posted on 12/11/2007 12:18:05 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Huckabee’s opinion on gay marriage is out there, but we should also be publicizing Huckabee’s opinions on heterosexual marriage. Specifically, what he believes about a women’s role in a marriage.

In August of 1998, Huckabee was one of 131 signatories to a full page USA Today Ad which declared: “I affirm the statement on the family issued by the 1998 Southern Baptist Convention.” What was in the family statement from the SBC? “A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.” Read on…

The Huckster is trying his best to hide his full gospel, but somehow I doubt this factoid will attract more women to his campaign. If you needed further proof that this religious extremist will set our country back even further than President Bush has, look no further. Of course, what do we expect from a man who lobbied to have a convicted serial rapist paroled for political gain.

UPDATE: (Nicole) BeliefNet has rated Huckabee a perfect 10 on the theocrat scale, but that’s still not enough to win over Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins.

Liberals are surprised that a Baptist minister agrees with his church's teachings and the Bible? I have a lot of problems with Mike Huckabee, but shouldn't a Christian believe his own religion's doctrine? Of course, Hillary/Obama will use this as a cudgel to beat Huckabee about the head and shoulders in the general election, which is another reason he is a liability.

No self-respecting Irish lady would put up with talk like that. ;-)

Huckabee doesn’t have a chance of getting elected, should he become the nominee. None.

That smart-ass remark just cost him 50 percent of the vote. He’s finished now.

As usual only half the story is given. I don’t care for Huckabee but to only quote what is expected of the woman and ignore what is expected of the man is a little disingenuous.

Yup. Might as well have a screaming headline, "Huckabee believes Roman-era Jew walked on water, raised the dead", or "Huckabee believes Earth 5000 years old".

When the tables are turned, and we don't just look at what Mormons believe, the NYT headlines don't look so hot no matter what religion you look at. That's why I don't think its right to get into Mormonism in the race, and I don't think Huckabee's religious beliefs are fair game, either. People only need to know that he is a fundamentalist Baptist, not examine all the ins and outs endlessly. That's between each man and his maker.

Tell me what Huckabee believes about the Law of the Sea Treaty instead, will you, you MSM propagandists!

The drive-by media has spent months building up Huckabee as "the nice republican" who "cares about the children" and isn't a "hatemonger" against "undocumented migrants" and their progeny. Now that he's left Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter in the dust, it's time to destroy him so they can make Rudy Giuliani the nominee that faces Hillary. That way they win no matter what happens!

Mike Huckabee: Women Should Submit To Their Husbands

As is fitting unto the Lord. The Bible also says, Husbands love your wives. Those two commands work hand in hand.

I don’t think anyone has been left in the dust. IMHO Huckabee is a flash in the pan. No one will need to tear him down once the whole truth about him comes out. He just is not a conservative and that is what they keep trying to sell him as. At least Rudy admits to his record and says he will change whether one believes him or not is up to the individual. Huckabee is whistling past the graveyard hoping his dirty little secret won’t get out.

This won’t hurt him with Christians who know the “WORD”. He is just quoting what the bible states. He doesn’t try and soft soap it for votes. I like that about him.

"The Law of the Sea Treaty essentially would say that the United States would give up certain controls of its territorial waters, it would give up its sovereign understanding of what it can do within its own seas both at the surface and within the depths, and that we would virtually hand ourselves over to an international body of justice." - Mike Huckabee

I know the husband’s responsibility, and I still assert that Paul had a burr in his shorts about women (granted, in the time period he wrote, he was being extremely magnanimous). And the Ephesians were a rowdy group too.

But no, it’s not balanced.... it tips in the favor of the males. If God loves girls as much as boys, rules like this wouldn’t exist. We either have equal value in his eyes, or he is not our God.

Daily Kos takes a provocative statement out of context presumably to try to agitate females into becoming angry Hillary tools. This site contains a fuller version.

"You are right because you recognized that the family was God's idea, not man's, and that marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman for a lifetime.

"You are right because you called husbands to sacrificially love and lead their wives.

"You are right because you called wives to graciously submit to their husband's sacrificial leadership.

"You are right because you affirmed that the husband and wife are of equal worth before God.

"You are right because you reminded us that children are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.

Sacrificial love sounds like a job description of America's military. They supposedly get the better part of the deal?

Why? What's expected of the man isn't controversial. But declaring that a wife should "submit" to her husband is going to rub a lot of voters the wrong way. Smart politicians avoid buzzwords like that.

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,

-Ephesians 5:22-26 NKJV

Here is the whole quote.

It ticks me off that so many people on FR go along with the DBM to smear someone they disagree with in such a dishonest manner.

Huckabee actually believes the bible is the word of God. How shocking.

So if we can’t fulfill our rolls then we are evil in Gods eyes?

Church of the size 4 shoes.

Either we are equal and free to be who we were created to be, or we are not equal, and damned by gender and ability.

Wow.
What an unhappy person you are.
God loves me and God loves my husband but we have different rolls in our relationship.
I am not damned, my husband is not damned.
We each have a roll to play in our relationship, we play really really well.

I’m extremely happy....
I just learned that not all of us are alike, and I celebrate the individuality in every person.

I’d no more expect you to do my job, live my life or be like me than I’d wish me to be like you...because we’d both be miserable... And I sincerely don’t believe that God gives a rats patootie about my sexual organs, I think he cares more about me.

It took me a long, long time to get to this point....and I honestly believe that lots of what is in the Bible is the word of God, and lots of it is the attitudes, mores and beliefs of other people....

Some of them very mean and unhappy. :) And a lot of them don’t like females one dang bit... The roles that they wrote in the bible only a small handful of humans can be happy with, the rest miserable trying to achieve something that is actually harmful for them.

And it ain’t no coinky-dink that Sharia Law came from the same roots and region. Too much of it is alike.

But hey, I’m jez usin’ the brain God gave me.
