Greencastle, Ind. - "Four years ago in this cycle there was a front-runner and his name was Howard Dean," recalls Jeri Kehn Thompson, in an interview with Kentucky's Lexington Herald-Leader. "John Kerry was running about eighth. You can ask President Dean how things went in Iowa." Thompson, a 1988 graduate of DePauw University, is the wife of Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson, who is currently running third among GOP candidates in an Iowa poll. She was in Louisville campaigning for her husband yesterday.
The article notes that Jeri Thompson returned home to Washington immediately following her Kentucky stop so she could be on hand when her 4-year-old daughter returned from ice skaing. "I'm doing about as much traveling as my children will let me, which is not that much," says Thompson, who also has a 1-year-old son. "I do about one day a week."
Andy Mead writes, "Thompson said she plans to begin a 2 1/2-week bus trip through Iowa starting later next week. Both children will be with her, she said. A changing table is being built into the bus."

A third in Iowa would be good enough. Frankly I believe that anyone coming in less that 4th need not continue their candidacy past Iowa.
Ahhh yes the days of little john-john calling his father a “poopoohead” during the cuban missile crisis. Or was that Nikita?
Pinging the list to post #3, as I kick myself around the room...
Every time I see that little tiger I think “It won’t be long before he squares up and punches his first hippie!”
It might be a really good thing for the nation to have some little ones in the White House again. Perhaps we can infuse those who have given up offspring for gaia with the joy and importance of children.
That’s refreshing...her children come first!
FRED THOMPSON - PRO-LIFE ADVOCATE (true consistent Conservative Federalist and Pro-Life) - NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT (Ill protect the American people and values, whatever it takes to stop the Islamicfacists, including water-boarding) - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE (arming the People and disarming criminals) - SECURE AND SEAL THE BORDERS (dont give them sanctuary anywhere, dont hire them, dont rent to them, dont give them credit, dont give them rights they dont deserve, report all crimes committed by them, its called attrition, and deport those who have already committed crimes against America) - LAW AND ORDER (enforcement first and foremost with the laws currently on the books) - SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM (reform a program that cant sustain itself and will bankrupt the next generation) - DEFEAT ANY DEMOCRAT AND RINO (any fool they put up) TAX SIMPLIFICATION (variety of choice for the tax payer) - WONT PUT UP WITH CRAP FROM THE MSM (including stupid questions by moderators and pundits) - WE THE PEOPLE CANDIDATE (We the People asked him to run and he stepped up) - PING!
Now who wouldn’t want a lady like that in our White House?
Instead of freaking you out like Hillary, she’s got a nice calm appearance. A mother’s certainty.
It’s nice to see that the “trophy wife” also has a brain.
She’s right, Kerry was running 8th, and he won the nomination.
So maybe there is still hope for Duncan Hunter!!!!
Go Hunter!!!
DAMN STRAIGHT!!! So you’re FINALLY giving up on Mitt and jumping on the THOMPSON-HUNTER bandwagon with 60% of your fellow FReepers?? WELCOME ABOARD, it’ about time!
Thompson won’t be picking Hunter.
And if Thompson wants to emulate Kerry, he’ll have to tell people what they want to here, which would be very “un-Fred-like”.
Kerry took off because the democrats panicked at polls showing Dean would lose to Bush, and Kerry told each group he met with whatever they wanted to hear, making them all think Kerry could beat Bush.
Oddly, months after Kerry was the de-facto nominee, Hillary Clinton still outpolled him in preference surveys.
I agree...Mrs. Thompson will make a lovely and articulate First Lady. :)
Funniest line of that day, tho, goes to Hayden. She had told them her mommys full name, so they asked if she knew her daddys full name, to which she replied "Yes! It's Fred '08 Thompson!".
