Thompson Adds Three Legislative Endorsements (in Iowa!)
John Deeth Blog ^ | December 28, 2007 | John Deeth

Fred Thompson has picked up endorsements from three state representatives - Kraig Paulsen of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Kaufmann of Wilton and Jamie Van Fossen of Davenport -- bringing his total to six.

Mitt Romney still has a prohibitive lead with 16, followed by John McCain with eight.

There was another Iowa legislator that endorsed Fred today, I believe. Maybe these state representatives going for Fred are hearing from the grassroots?

This is rather disturbing that Romney has so much support. I can understand voters supporting him, because they probably don’t know any better.

But other politicians?

Of course this goes to show that anyone can be bought if the price is right.

Mr. Deeth missed the announcement about Iowa State Rep. Gary Worthan endorsing Fred, which takes it to at least seven!

Do you feel it? It’s the feeling of victory just over the horizon! Do you feel it?

FRED THOMPSON - NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT (I’ll protect the American people and American values, whatever it takes to stop the Islamic-Fascists including water-boarding) - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE (’arming the People to disarm criminals and making available to the general populace superior weaponry to deal with domestic terrorists where ever and whenever they may be found) – INCREASE THE MILITARY’S STRENGTH AND SIZE (giving those brave men and women a Commander in Chief to be proud of) - SECURE AND SEAL THE BORDERS (don’t give sanctuary anywhere to illegal’s, don’t employ illegal’s, don’t rent to illegal’s, don’t extend credit to illegal’s, don’t give illegal’s rights they don’t deserve, report all crimes committed by illegal’s and deport those illegal’s who have already committed crimes against America) - LAW AND ORDER (enforcement first and foremost with laws currently on the books) – DENY FEDERAL DOLLARS TO SANCTUARY CITIES (enough is enough) – CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES FOR SUPREMES (those who will interpret the law, not create rights that do not exist) – PRO-LIFE ADVOCATE (nominate superior Constitutional Justices to overturn Roe vs Wade) - SOCIAL SECURITY REFORMER (reform a broken program that can’t sustain itself and will bankrupt future generations, with the added benefit of private savings accounts) - DEFEAT ANY DEMOCRAT AND RINO (any fool DemocRATS put up) – TAX SIMPLIFICATION (variety of choice for the tax payer) - WON’T PUT UP WITH CRAP FROM THE MSM (including stupid questions by moderators and pundits) - “WE THE PEOPLE” CANDIDATE (We the People asked him to run and he stepped up) - PING!

John Deeth doesn’t have a single CLUE.

Those Legislators had endorsed FDT several months ago.

This is old, but LOVELY, news

Everybody is jocking around for sillyness and polls. Fred is quietly building the team that has the organization. Just take a look at the names of the people that control Iowa’s grassroots and you see them endorsing Fred.

The MSM narrative is finally starting to rub away. They will lose this game and even CBS is acknowledging today along with all the cable outlets. Fred knows what he is doing. The great thing is that there is no pandering, he is right on the issues and knows where the power is at. Fred is getting the support all the other candidates wanted and including those that tried to buy it.

Go FRed Go!

Here is a story about Rep Gary Worthan endorsing FDT today, and a complete list of the Legislative leaders on the FDT Team.

As I said earlier, Deeth doesn’t have a clue.

I bet there are a lot of people were/will be briefly tricked by Jimmah Carter II — aka Huckabee.

They’ll go somewhere, and their natural home is Fred Thompson.

Same here....Fred has been my man all along, but I was ready to look at the Huckster if the msm is successful in sinking Fred. But after learning more about him, it looks like he's almost as bad as Rudy McRomney.

Just for reminder, remember the exit polls in 2004 showing John Kerry winning ? ..... Fred is not out of it ... the grassroots will have it's say.
Remember the Mitt Bots saying that Tom Tancredo knows something by picking Mitt, ? and then ? Tom's tops aids and campaign people endorsed Fred ? makes you kinda think, doesn't it ?

Welcome home, nmh! You're not alone:

Fred Thompson’s Campaign Picking Up Key Iowa Conservatives

Key Undecided Iowa Conservatives Start Move Toward Thompson

Fred Thompson Receives the Endorsement of Iowa State Rep. Gary Worthan

Conservative State Leader Supporting Thompson

A late movement by Iowa conservatives toward the Fred Thompson campaign was spotlighted by today’s announcement that noted Iowa conservative leader, State Representative Gary Worthan, had endorsed the former Senator from Tennessee.

Many Iowa conservatives have been undecided and Worthan’s endorsement was an important one for the Thompson campaign, which got a late start in the 2008 election process.

“Gary Worthan was one of the key Iowa conservatives that had been undecided.” stated Bob Haus, Thompson’s Iowa Executive Director. “Gary’s endorsement is one we were hoping to pick up in these days leading up to the Iowa Caucuses. We’re humbled to get it.”

Haus stated that the campaign expects to pick up more endorsements from Iowa conservatives. Conservative support has been encouraging and “the movement on the ground here seems to be toward Fred Thompson.”

“Events overseas the last few days have helped highlight Senator Thompson’s foreign policy experience. While some of the other candidates, including the front-runners, seem a little perplexed, Senator Thompson’s steadiness in his statements and steel in his spine has helped swing some key support to our campaign.”

” We’ll have some more announcements a little later on. We expect more undecided Iowa conservatives to gravitate our way over the next week.”

Thompson’s Iowa Legislative Leadership team includes several conservatives already.

But other politicians?

I do not particularly find fault with those who support Mitt Romney. There are two important goals in picking a primary candidate; they are equally important, and they are more important than any other:

  1. The candidate should be able to win the general election
  2. The candidate should be sufficiently good that it's worth winning the generally election
Some people feel that Mitt Romney does a better job of meeting #1 than does Fred Thompson. That is a judgment call; Mitt Romney's bigger bankroll would seem to give him an advantage, which may or may not outweigh some of the strikes against him. Given the balancing factors, I can't say with any certainty which candidate would be better in that regard.

As for condition #2, Mitt Romney might meet it or he might not. My personal feeling is that he probably does, but I can't say so with certainty. The uncertainty isn't enough to disqualify Mitt Romney in my book, but it does make me want for a better alternative.

If Fred Thompson is on the ballot when the Illinois primary rolls around, I will vote for him. If Thompson, Romney, or Huckabee wins the nomination, I will vote for him in the general election; I will be much happier in the general if Fred wins the nomination, but would support the others I mentioned in the general (if Hunter won the nomination somehow I'd happily vote for him in the general, but that's really unlikely to happen).

Welcome back to Fred!! I hope you can convince others that wearing your Christianity on your sleeve while not having much else that’s conservative about you is not a good way to get elected on the Republican ticket.

EXCELLENT point. Only Fred among all the candidates really supports #2. We got Ahnold elected in CA, BUT FOR WHAT, I ask you? BUT FOR WHAT? Who cares how electable a RINO might be?

Mitt spread around a lot of money in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina in 2004 and 2006. And for most politicians, it doesn't take much money at all.

He spread lots of money early. And he seems unbeatable. I bet a lot of the endorsement came early.
