An Oregon City woman who dated congressional candidate Mike Erickson seven years ago said she asked him directly whether he wanted to have a baby. He shook his head no, she said, and paid for her abortion.
In interviews with The Oregonian, the woman said she met Erickson in September 2000, and she had the abortion in January 2001. They saw each other afterward, she said, even going on a trip to Mexico in March, before the relationship ended. She spoke on the condition that only her first name, Tawnya, be used.
Her story is backed up by medical and other records, and the accounts of two friends, one of whom was with her at the abortion. Their story conflicts directly with Erickson's version.

If this story is true, than Erikson should drop out of the race, and his replacement should not be Kevin Mannix, who lost the primary to Erikson after dragging the race into the gutter.
When it rains, it pours.
after reading the story, it sounds possible. What kind of ‘doctor appointment ‘ do you need $300 for?
this guy sounds like a jerk, if true.
the best line was what her friend told her, “You’ve got to get rid of this guy!:
That makes no sense. If the story is true, Mannix was providing important information to the voters.
What a mess this is. Erickson ran and lost before. Why would anyone believe he would win this time around?
I’m no great fan of Mannix, who’s kind of a big-government conservative, but Erickson has a big problem, and is unlikely to win. He’d do everyone a favor by dropping out now.
Is it too late to run somebody else in this race instead?
It’s possible he’s being framed but honestly, it really sounds to me like this story is true and he is a truly despicable person. Having him associated with our party is just going to keep on hurting us.
“Is it too late to run somebody else in this race instead?”
Not yet. If it is true, than Erikson should definitely drop out. And the GOP should tap someone who was not involved in the primary, so that the party can start with a clean slate.
If he was a Democrat, this would be a badge of honor.
Sigh.
I agree, Erickson should drop out for the good of the party. This is an eminently winnable seat, but not if our candidate has such character issues. I would prefer that Mannix be the replacement, but if it would create too much disunity on the GOP due to the bruising primary then perhaps state Senator Jackie Winters should be given the shot that she was denied in the 2004 primary (when a pro-abortion Republican used Winters’ unfortunate vote to raise taxes to depict himself as the “true conservative” in the race).
He’s toast. Get him out of there. Even Mannix would stand a better chance than him but Winters could very well be the best choice.
It is true. Erickson should drop out and Mannix should be the candidate for Congress.
That’s not the same Manwich.
It should be Winters, despite her age. She could run without it jeopardizing her Senate seat.
