Secure Borders, End Sanctuaries, Deport Illegals
Red Bluff Daily News ^ | January 11, 2009 | Pete Stiglich

What part of illegal alien is so difficult to understand? Apparently, there are those who are either too confused, too unwilling or too incapable of understanding the meaning of those simple words. Instead, they'd rather emotionalize any debate on illegal immigration with cries of racism, discrimination and an alleged lack of compassion for our fellow human beings. They choose this course rather than honestly dealing with the established fact we are a nation of laws - laws intended and necessary to preserve civility and order for our common good.

I, for one, refuse to be intimidated or influenced by such capricious, illogical labels and accusations. Name-calling is certainly a last resort for the weak, the ignorant and the indefensible.

Perhaps a quick refresher on immigration law would prove useful. Title 8, Section 1325 of the US Code, Improper Entry by Alien states the following:

"Any citizen of any country other than the United States who: Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact; ...has committed a federal crime. Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison...............

He makes a great point here- enforce the laws that we have. Enforce laws against illegal immigration...... There are approximately 2.8 million illegals in California.

I’ve seen estimates as high as 30 million across the entire US, and I tend to believe the highwe number. The culture they bring with is too pervasive to be just 3-4% of the total population.

Right on! The illegals have a very negative impact on the nation’s economy as well.

In addition, the Department for American Immigration Reform puts the number of illegals in California to be well over 3.4 million.

Great article, and thanks for posting

Even with another pro-illegal administration....at least with the bad economy, it does take away one argument the amnesty supporters have been using...the “jobs Americans wont do”

There are plenty of Americans now looking for jobs...we do not need illegal alien amnesty, guest worker amnesty...or any type of special program for foreign labor. There are plenty of Americans willing to be hired

I think if there is a push for illegal alien amnesty now...the backlash will be even greater than in 2007...and will result in more pro-Amnesty House and Senate members losing their seats in 2010 and 2012

Agreed! One has to simply go to a job fair in the L.A. area and simply observe what is standing in line for work.

The author makes too much sense, and thus will be branded a bigot by the liberals and ignorant (but I repeat myself).

I read an artcle yesterday stating that our Military may help secure the border if Mexico’s drug violence spills over.

And I’m all for that Holly. Illegal drug smuggling and it’s associated traits is a danger to the American citizen.

I would guess the 30 million figure may cover the number of Latinos, probably another couple of million from other countries, if not more!!

What and deny the democratic party all of those voters?? Fat chance. In spite of their best efforts, the black race is not breeding quickly enough to insure democrats an unbroken line of political power. So the party has imported a second black race. And it is not about to send this new flock of dependents packing.

Illegal aliens have begun to leave the country and go back home, due to the worsening economy and growing backlash against them by native Americans. The solution will have to come from the grass roots, as the political class will do nothing about it.

"He makes a great point here- enforce the laws that we have. Enforce laws against illegal immigration......"

"The Roman Republic fell, not because of the ambition of Caesar or Augustus, but because it had already long ceased to be in any real sense a republic at all. When the sturdy Roman plebeian, who lived by his own labor, who voted without reward according to his own convictions, and who with his fellows formed in war the terrible Roman legion, had been changed into an idle creature who craved nothing in life save the gratification of a thirst for vapid excitement, who was fed by the state, and who directly or indirectly sold his vote to the highest bidder, then the end of the republic was at hand, and nothing could save it. The laws were the same as they had been, but the people behind the laws had changed, and so the laws counted for nothing." - Teddy Roosevelt

As elected officials spend primarily the entire day doing NOTHING but condoning their existence and keeping someone else from taking their job.

Sounds like a Conservative empire going to a Liberal empire where it ceases to exist. When that happens here, thank the Democrats.

It’s always a pretty simple fix: Vigorous enforcement of our laws and regulations, both at the borders, in the interior and in our courtrooms.

Or we go the way of Europe where hooligans and out-right criminals rule the in streets and find sympathy in the legislatures.
