I am considering a run for Congress, Ashland County District Attorney Sean Duffy said in an interview Wednesday. On Wednesday, Im going down to Wausau to talk about what the future holds.
The Republican Party of Marathon County on Wednesday announced an event next week at Wausau Homes featuring a very special announcement regarding the 7th Congressional District, expected to be Duffys formal announcement.
Duffy is active with the Republican Party of Wisconsin, but he is perhaps best known as a former cast member on the MTV reality show The Real World: Boston in 1997. His conservative political views were a source of friction on the show with some of his more liberal housemates. Duffy is married to another former Real World cast member, Rachel Campos-Duffy, who starred in a different season of the long-running series.

I watched the first year of “The Real World” a while back, but haven’t gotten into it in many years. Still, I think that Sean Duffy would be a respectable candidate. No one thought that Fred Grandy would be elected in Iowa, but he did and served four terms.

That's the only season of that show I watched. I had a crush on his now-wife, Rachel.

He will lose. Especially with a name like Duffy. The 7th district will only move Republican for a true North-lander. Obey is too entrenched. I retire from the Navy in two years and intend on taking the 7th district away from the libs (2012). I was born and raised in Superior and left the North-woods when I was 18 to go to Annapolis. I am flying jets in Texas right now, but I have always intended on going back home. Had to leave because there were no jobs available when I left High School. Sorry if I sound a little narcissistic, but I have served this country since 1987 and I cannot believe the horrible changes I have seen. I have four little kids, and I fear for their future. I have to be confident in my ability to get Obey out of there and start changing the direction of this country. We need to get some military folks back in Congress. People not interested in enriching themselves.

He is a true north lander born and raise in Hayward the Duffy family has been in Hayward many decades. His brother was mayor of Hayward Father has had Law paractice here for many years.

Mel Laird, Obey’s predecessor, was originally from Nebraska. In any event, if he can win, he should give it a try, we can’t afford to wait until ‘12. Remember, this isn’t about you, it’s about the team and the country.

You are right, it isn’t about me......I just do not want another Lawyer in there, truth be told. He will lose.

If Obey is still in Congress in 2012, I wish you well.

Obey is going to have to be pryed out of Congress, unfortunately. He’s the Ted Kennedy of the House.

Duffy has been “thinking” of running since 2003 and he has missed 2 events this year. I don't think he's serious about it. Dan Mielke ran in 08 and got more votes anyone else has against Obey. I hear he's running again so he looks to be our best chance right now.

That was a surprise. He did 4 points better than the 2006 Republican. Obey got a bit under 61%. That doesn’t spell invincible.

Dan Mielke is a sexist Grizzly Adams. His wife sits at every function adn never opens her mouth. Besides he smells and couldn’t get elected garabage collector
To: ThunderStruck94
True northlander? You haven’t lived here in many years. I think you should question whether you a re a true northlander.
To: ThunderStruck94
Duffys have been in Hayward since 1883. That’s true “northlander”. Sean Duffy is smart and well-spoken. The people pf the 7th district are lucky to have someone like him care about our area and want to take on the Obey machine.
To: Impy
I didn’t say it was invincible. Just right now he’s the only one fighting and he had a good first round.

LOL, Duffy has such a sophisticated debater on his team. I will agree however, that Duffy is prettier. But this isnt a beauty pageant or a reality show. Duffy hasn't showed he is willing to engage in a hard fight.

I was curious. Duffy hasn't thought he could beat Obey since 2003, otherwise he would have run and not just thought about running. Why is this year different?

I meant Obey is not invincible. A 40 year guy taking only about 60% of the vote in a great year for his party.
