SARAH PALIN TO THE MEDIA AND WASHINGTON: "QUIT MAKING THINGS UP."
The Edisto Joe Outlook ^ | 07/27/2009 | Edisto Joe

The farewell address for Sarah Palin was for the most part what one would have expected if you have been following this story. However one statement directed toward the media caught my attention:

"Democracy depends on you," Palin said, "That's why our troops are willing to die for you. So how about in honor of the American soldier you quit making things up?"

I have heard and read a lot of "chatter" over the meaning of the words. Is she referring to reports on the military or CIA, the reporting in Afghanistan or Iraq? Maybe she is talking about the way the media has reported on her and her family or the efforts of Democratic operatives in filing ethics charges against her as Governor of Alaska. Or could she possibly be referring to the media bias when reporting on the Democrats and the Obama administration. Well take your pick. The answer is all the above.

The radical left is trying to take over and reshape this country in their own image. The Democrats and Obama as well as the media are playing along. Witness Nancy Pelosi trying to force a vote on a National Health Care Plan that even some of her Democratic constituents are against. It's not about what's good for America and the economy, it's about forcing government take over of our health care system and controlling the private lives of Americans. Obama is going on television telling the American people that we need this plan to save our economy and perserve our future; that small business will benefit from the proposal. Small business will suffer, big business will suffer. He chooses to ignore any data that that begs to differ from his agenda. He doesn't even believe the report from the Congressional Budget Office that says there are no savings to be found from this proposed plan!

Look at Nancy Pelosi slamming the CIA, accusing them of lying to her and Congress and not offering a shred of evidence. The media reports on the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan focus on our troop losses and setbacks. Americans are well aware of the causalities of war, but where is the coverage on all the positive things happening in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have a son serving in the Marines and I can tell you first hand that these young men and women believe in their mission, believe what they are doing is right and in the long run will help the world and keep America safe. A little more reporting on our troops and less on drugged out pop stars and "stupidly" made remarks by public officials would be a welcome change.

"Quit making things up." How about starting with the false and frivolous ethics claims against Palin. ABC reports: "Ethics woes have helped batter her image and approval rating." Do you think it would be important to report that all but one suit has been dismissed? The one pending is on the legal defense fund which was set up because Alaska does not allow public officials to defend the chief executive in cases that involve ethics charges. If that goes to the Supreme Court even the liberal judges on the bench would vote in her favor.

It's time America demand truth in their reporting. Out and out lies to the public need to be exposed. The Obama administration, the Democrats and left wing radicals don't want that. It would deny them one of their most powerful weapons. That's why they hide the word "censorship" from "The Freedom Of Information Act." If they succeed in silencing talk radio from speaking the truth about their plans, it will hasten their socialization of America.

It's way past time for these people to "Quit making things up." and by the way, Pelosi, Reed, and the rest of you people in Congress, how about a moment of silence to pay respects to our fallen heroes in The War On Terror instead of a drug overdosed pop star!

That’s too hard! Carefully researching, and fact checking, the news requires a lot more effort, than just getting a vague outline of something, and filling it out with whatever you want to write.

They learned well from their Soviet role models. Nowadays, there’s more Pravda in Pravda than in the NY Times.

I like how she used the word “Quit” in her comment as if to emphasize the media lies about her resigning.

Very sad...but true. A once great newspaper nothing more than a leftist rag...they run that paper like Obama is running the country...in the ground!!
