SacBee: Capitol Alert ^ | 6/28/10 | David Siders

He didn't mention her name, but in brief remarks at the Los Angeles Press Club's annual awards gala on Sunday night, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger swiped at Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, calling her proposal to eliminate 40,000 state worker positions "bogus talk" and praising journalists for asking where those cuts would be made.

Uh, Arnold? You aren't running for anything. Don't you have a budget that needs your attention?

Is this RINO-to-RINO combat?

Do it again.

Considering the source, I view that as an endorsement.

Oh, how I remember when conservatives loved this guy. For some reason a lot of people forgot he was married to a Kennedy.

God this man is an idiot. Eliminating all these state employees should have happened a long time ago. Once again this fool shows how clueless he is and why he ran up California’s debt to record levels. He never had any real commitment to controlling budgets.

The primary’s over. Attacking Whitman helps Jerry Brown.

Arnold wants to get back in Hollywood’s good graces again so he can resume his acting career.

I supported McClintock in 03. Arnold pretended to be on our side for about 2 years, then his true self came out.

Not sure he was loved. More likely the far left extreme liberal communist rat he was running against was hated.

This is California not South Carolina.

Moon Beam Brown will do things to Ca that even Hitler or Stalin would blush over.

Life in the ultra Liberal Ca.

He's saying that because in CA there was a contract made that if you fire government workers you have to give the remaining ones big raises.
So if you fire 40k (GREAT), you have to give a 5% raise to others which may even cost more.

Best if the state declares bankruptcy, vacates the union contracts and renegotiate those they need down to slightly below private sector wages and benefits instead of 300% more.

The Governor of California, be it Arnold, Meg, of (again) Moonbeam Brown, does not run California. The Governor is more akin to the ant floating downriver on a piece of wood.....and only believes (s)he is steering.

No matter who wins this years election, the winner will quickly learn that the various public employees unions are really the ones in charge.

Arnold’s greatest failure is that he did not fight the California Teachers Union and the Correctional Officers Union, but instead rolled over and played dead at the first radio ad by the CTA opposing his leadership direction. He, in effect from day one, became like the dead fish just going with the flow. Arnold has long been exposed as a girly man.

California, until it breaks the power of these unions will continue to be bankrupt.

“NOt that i have any real love for Meg or anything but i really hope she wins this race.”

Meg will be no better than Arnold. She’ll quickly find out where the real power lies in Cal State Government....and it won’t be her!

"The primary’s over. Attacking Whitman helps Jerry Brown."

You are correct.

And, I'll be voting for Brown in a effort to accelerate the process of "hitting bottom" in the State of California.

Whitman would simply delay the inevitable. The fact should WOULD NOT take Prop 187 to appeal and would do nothing to restrict illegal access to public coffers means she can never have my vote. I will lobby against her at every opportunity.

And Jerry Brown will take Prop 187 to appeal and stop illegals from getting public services? Enjoy the 75% tax rates, $5.00 a gallon gas from new taxes and CO2 “recovery fees” and being unemployed when the company you work for moves to Nevada. But hey, you sure showed Meg Whitman!
