Believe me, this fellow’s mindset, warped as it is, was the view of many Reagan voters in 1980. Many (not including me, I hasten to add) had misgivings about him, but they appraised the situation and decided that Carter had to go. Once the decision to fire Carter was taken, the only option (Anderson could never have won)was Reagan. And they said, as this dummie says now, “Reagan couldn’t be as bad as Carter”. And they pulled the lever for him.
She is the frontrunner for the “Fire Obama vote”. If people decide he has to go for the good of the country, they can either not vote or vote for Palin. If they really want Obama out, which most will, they will vote for Palin even if they hate her.
As I have said before, if she is the GOP nominee and the voters have made the judgment to fire Obama, she will be the 45th President of the United States. The real issue will be how effective her campaign will be. If she runs a campaign of conviction, guts and panache that resembles the last year, something of which she is entirely capable (and which I find the most likely scenario), the GOP will obliterate the Democrat candidates down ballot and it will be a realigning election even deeper and more enduring than 1980 and 1932.
This is why the Democrats fear her. Because of her vision, the strength of her convictions and her political skills, she threatens their power not merely for four or eight years, but for generations. She is going to reorient the country’s view of the Constitution away from its current use to promote “fairness” (which the liberals call “justice” and which Marx referred to as “from each according to his ability...”) to its true purpose which is to PROTECT people from the Government. She will begin repealing laws where possible, impounding funds to starve the leviathan when laws cannot be repealed, and using all the powers of the Presidency in a full bore assault on this entire philosophy and its underpinnings. This is what the liberals in D.C. feared that Reagan would do, but what he never achieved for reasons too complex to get into here. Where Reagan merely scratched the surface, Palin will blow the door wide open. God go with her.

I happen to live in Wasilla, and I have personally met the Palins.
And hearing this from ADN is actually quite a turn of events as they are and have always been a very liberal newspaper.
Actually for the most part Anchorage is a liberal town, its the rest of Alaska that is mostly conservative though its been analyzed to death that many believe Alaskans are really more centered or leaning more to the Libertarian side.
But in viewing the big picture I can see the picture as its described, Sarah Palin could be pushed ahead in politics solely because people feel more in common with her than absolutely anyone else, period.
While every possible candidate from any direction acts like a weathervane and trying to harp the crest of a wave of political emotions Sarah Palin remains loyal to what the real heartbeat of America is.
There cannot be a “best” candidate unless scientists were able to clone DNA from past successful Presidents and morph it into some Neapolitan political Gumby there is for the time being one such person that I believe does have our best interests in heart, mind and body, she isn’t perfect but then again perfect breeds tend to show excessive traits that often become destructive such as pureblood animals.
One cannot expect an Arabian stallion to plow a field, but yet mixed breeds in a dog show have won best of show by exhibiting all the combined traits of loyalty, intelligence and showmanship.

He must be referring to the AFRICAN CHRISTIAN MINISTER who said prayers/a blessing over her all the way back in 2005... He prayed to JESUS to protect her from spiritual warfare, and the “spirit of witchcraft” when she was campaigning for the office of Governor.

I pray you are correct... If anyone could energize America and get us back to looking forward and being strong, it’s her. I don’t think there is anyone else in a position to do it - and certainly no-one has the guts like she does.
There are some obstacles she’d have to overcome, but none as serious as Obama’s flaws SHOULD have been to the voters.

True enough... and I was a reporter at the Frontiersman, so I got to see the ADN up close and gritty.
However, Freepers here need to know that Paul Jenkins has really solid conservative credentials up here in Alaska. He just doesn’t like Sarah for personal reasons, not for political stance. Jenkins used to work at the (now deceased)Anchorage Times, a lovely paper that actually reflected the readers it served. After the Times died and was swallowed up by the Daily News, the Times struggled on in a half-page presentation on the ADN editorial page in which Jenkins (and a few others) wrote a daily editorial and ran conservative columnists. Sadly, even that half page is gone.
When Jenkins says that Palin is sometimes thin-skinned and prone to payback - well, I respect other stuff he writes, so at least I’ll pay attention. Sometimes you can be on the same side of a politician and still not like them.

Question one: We’re very conservative, but there’s a lot of libertarianism mixed in with the social conservatives.
Question two: It’s a monopoly paper - and it’s getting smaller and smaller. The last time I was in town the paper was literally a thin ghost of what it used to be.

Having lived in those areas with occasional trips to Fairbanks I naturally assumed the state was bright red. But of course the population mecca of ANC is getting more and more purple

When Old ALLAHPUNDIT starts to see what is happening (whether he likes it or not), it means the toothpaste is out of the tube. In all my years of watching politcs, I have never seen anyone so in command of the scene as she is.
She seems to read their minds and anticipate everything they are going to try. Trying to put myself in the postion of the MSM and the leftists (as well as the GOP Establishment). It must be tremendously frustrating to try to catch her.
She possesses something I have not seen before. I do not expect to see it again. She is different from Reagan, although there are many similarities. Lyn Nofziger said it was wrong to try to make Reagan a Saint because he was not perfect. the same holds true for Palin. But Nofziger went on to state, “But he was a unique President. He believed in three things: God, the American people and himself. And that is kind of unique.”
Yes it is. I think the same can be said of Palin. In spades. She believes in God and believes in the American people. For her, the belief in the American people is not just lip service, as it is for nearly every other politician, because she really trusts the people to manage their own lives and create wealth if the Government can be removed from the equation.
And she believes in herself, to put it mildly. And then some. I have never seen a more self confident politician in my life, not even Reagan, who was himself supremely confident. She is completely comfortable with her beliefs and her ability and no amount of criticism is going to deter her. She is not afraid of a fight and not afraid to stand up for what is right, no matter the consequences. That is a rare quality in any person. It is practically nonexistent among politicians. That the quality exists in a politician as uniquely gifted as Palin is beyond remarkable.
