Talk about going rogue.
Meghan McCain, who fancies herself the hippest, most progressive young Republican in America, talked some trash last night about Sarah Palin.
I know, where have you heard this song before?
Ever since Palin imploded in her Katie Couric interview before the 2008 election, just about everyone involved in John McCain’s presidential campaign – the candidate excluded – has publicly declared how they never really liked Mama Grizzly to start with.
Now the candidate’s daughter is piling on. In an interview with Jay Leno to publicize her recently-released book, Dirty Sexy Politics, Meghan McCain confesses to weeping on the GOP campaign bus after learning Palin was her dad’s running mate.
“Who the hell is Sarah Palin?” was how McCain described her reaction.
“I found out an hour before I went on stage with her. I think they were scared I would say something or whatever. Like the rest of the country, I had no idea who she was and I was actually crying on the bus on the way to the rally.”
McCain has said she has “conflicting” feelings about Palin. But she knows one thing – saying nasty things about the former mayor of Wasilla makes for good copy and can’t hurt sales of a book that might otherwise be destined for the remainder bin.
At 195 pages, McCain’s book is not a weighty political tome–either literally or figuratively. She happily acknowledged to Leno that the book was written for her girlfriends, not political insiders.
To wit, it includes a passage where McCain ponders the impact of having Mitt Romney on the ticket, in so far as it would expose her to the former Massachusetts’ governor’s five Mormon sons, who were “all so handsome, in a tooth-whitener commercial kind of way, and so seriously handsome.”

Well, if McCain and his campaign staff had possessed the collective common sense of a good number of us here at FR, they would never have made the mistake of allowing Palin's first interviews to be long, certain to be selectively edited, interviews by Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. That was one of the dumbest campaign mistakes made in anyone's memory of presidential campaigns.
I always remember the posts I and others made about how stupid that was, several days before either of the interviews took place. McCain definitely had one of the worst campaign teams in history, and ran one of the worst campaigns, and was one of the worst candidates ever.
She was weeping? About a woman she didn’t know, never heard of? What a delicate flower she is, and might I point out weeping, crying, boohooing, etc. is a hallmark of liberals everywhere. When they aren’t busy being “fearful of ______” they are “weeping because ________”. Fill in the blank with any cause celeb.
I have a very good friend who is a professor at the University of Texas in Austin. He is of course very liberal. He actually is finding Obama difficult to “swallow” lol but he has opened himself to the otherside he says....He really likes Megan McCain and her politics. OMG, thought I was going to fall off my chair. Point is, she resignates with those who dislike Obama and cant come to say they like R’s..... Its a trend that is disturbing to say the least.

The sad part is that John McCain has other children who are fine, upstanding and private citizens. Some have an honorable tradition of public and military service. Yet this ditz Meghan defines the “next generation” of McCains. Too bad.

The national media and the rest of the left declared Palin to have IMPLODED with little, perky Katie. Right now, as then, Katie can’t draw an audience. Sarah can!!
Unfortunately, she probably does see him as a military hero, and she's said that. But there are many thousands of military heroes in the US, and almost 600 ex-POWS from Vietnam. I think McCain has already gotten many times his share of the plaudits and career boosts due any ex-military man. It's long past time everyone viewed him as the politicians he is, and nothing else.
The still big, open question concerning Sarah for me is: Is she a John McCain Republican? She's done little to separate herself from him, and a fair amount to remain attached to him, and she's still dealing mostly in broad generalities.
If she’s a “John McCain Republican” why is his daughter on Team Romney, do you think? I understand pissant and rabscuttle385 and their friends wanting to paint her as a RINO, they’re Third Party members, but I assume you’re not, right?
