Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin are the clear leaders of the 2012 Republican presidential primary field, according to a new Gallup poll released Thursday.

Romney and Palin were the only potential candidates to earn more than 15 percent in the poll, with Mike Huckabee trailing not far behind. The three former governors were the only candidates to receive more than 10 percent, with Romney receiving 19 percent, Palin getting 16 percent and Huckabee at 12 percent.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich came in fourth in the poll, getting 9 percent, reports Politico.

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) was the only other potential candidate in the field to get more than five percent, receiving seven percent in the poll.

Both Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour each got three percent in the poll.

The survey of 906 Republicans was conducted September 25-26 with a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

Who are these so-called "Republicans" that they're polling?

Do you have poll numbers on another leader?

If so, who?

Hucksterby’s participation as Romney's stalking horse will split the conservative vote and give us what we don't need.

I looked at the poll’s internals (it’s a Gallup).
Romney won heavily in the East. Sarah did well in the South. The Huckster did well overall: his TV show.

All RINOS must be weeded out of the GOP, asap, from now on! All of the ongoing open primaries are, also, greatly harming the opportunities of ending “RINO Republicanism” quicker! Conservatives must, always, hold ALL of the incumbent/candidate RINOS “feet to the fire”!

I’m in CA and the disenchanted (with Obama) Dems and Independents I know seem to be leaning heavily towards Romney. I know most on FR don’t want to hear that, but the Romney fans I’m referring to are here in Los Angeles.

So far, NOBODY can understand the question, or the series of questions put forth. As of now, the answers provided do not matter.

I say Rush Limbaugh should be the candidate, except he says he cannot afford the cut in pay that a run for office and serving would entail.

“No thanks....... DeMint 2012 !!!!!!!”

Ditto! (I wonder if the poll allowed choosing DeMint as an option? These ‘polls’, IMO, ultimately determine our choices.)

DeMint....NOT one of the 12 options given!

"Gallup, in a poll conducted Sept. 25-26, asked Republicans and Republican-leaning independents which of 12 possible candidates they would be most likely to support for the party's nomination. All 12 candidates are thought to be seriously considering a run for president, and many of them have already visited Iowa and New Hampshire, the states holding the first nominating contests. In addition to the 12 named candidates, 1% of respondents volunteered the name of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Christie, in his first year as governor of the state, has become a prominent GOP figure, though he is not expected to run for president in 2012."

It is a push poll of some kind. These groups are trying to shape opinion instead of finding it. Watch how many “Romney is this or that” between now and presidential cycle.
Romney is trying to get out in front of the parade. Too bad he is a clown car!

Mitt Romney - About time.
Let the GOP finally take pride in RomneyCARE,
forced RomneyMarriage, and the internecine attacks on
Gov. Palin and her children by RomneyBOTs for Obama.

Why would conservatives pick a national candidate that appeals to kalifornicators?

If he/she sells in LA, they wouldn't get a second look in fly over country.

Jim DeMint isn’t included because he has said he is “absolutely not going to run.” To make his point, he asked the Values Voters straw poll to hold out his name from the ballot.

DeMint: “No plans” to run for President (Again says It’s a “no,” “absolutely not” going to run)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2593841/posts

“...GRETA: Is that a no?

DEMINT: It’s a “no”. I’m not going to run for President.

GRETA: Absolutely not going to run for President?

DEMINT: I’m not going to run for President...”

You folks are really going to need to come to terms and find someone else soon, because we’re less than a year away from when the campaign season essentially starts.
