Palin Putting Out Presidential Feelers in Iowa
RealClearPolitics ^ | January 20, 2011 | Scott Conroy

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has tasked her aides with quietly gauging her level of support for a potential presidential campaign by making inquiries to a select pool of likely allies and grassroots activists in Iowa, RealClearPolitics has learned.

Key Republican officials and operatives in the nation's first voting state had begun to assume that Palin would not run for president in 2012 since most of them have not heard a word from her or from her small circle of aides, even as other likely candidates have begun jockeying more forcefully behind the scenes. But a Palin adviser confirmed that although the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee's footprint has not been as heavy as that of other possible candidates, her political action committee has indeed been taking discreet steps in Iowa that would help her build a credible campaign here if she decided to launch one.

"The idea that we're not in Iowa is inaccurate," SarahPAC adviser Andy Davis told RealClearPolitics.

A top official in the Iowa Tea Party who insisted on anonymity to avoid betraying Palin's trust told RealClearPolitics that a friend of SarahPAC met with him in person in Des Moines late last year and prodded him for suggestions on how Palin might mount a grassroots campaign in the state.

Earlier this month, the same Iowa Tea Party official began preliminary work on scheduling a potential invitation to Palin for a fundraiser in Iowa. RealClearPolitics independently confirmed that the Tea Party official has been in contact with Palin allies....

Even if she doesn't run, it's fun watching her tweak the libs with the idea.

Mexican jumping beans. Watch them twitch.

“The idea that we’re not in Iowa is inaccurate,” SarahPAC adviser Andy Davis told RealClearPolitics

This is confirmation of at least being there....Just being there should encourage Sarah supporters that the time is getting close at hand to a firm decision possibly in the near future

As I said in another thread. Its on. She had decided by the time she went on Hannity. This is why the left has gone to "INSANE!" because they think this is the very last chance to scare her off. This is also why the Romney flacks are firing along too. But, its too late. She is now in it to win it.

You made several promises to fill those campaign coffers and now you will get the chance. But tonight, its time to donate to SarahPAC. Lets make a statement.

With all the free publicity she’s been getting, I’m sure she’ll do well!
“What man meant for evil, God meant for good...”

Of course I’m also sure ABC will present a dodgy poll released after 5 pm saying that she’s hated by the entire planet, the solar system, AND the majority of the Milky Way because she just won’t shut up already, LOL.

Yep, the day and the entire week of Palin’s announcement to run for President there will be constant reminders of polls and brand new polls saying that she is down 56 double digit points to Obama and that she has 90% unfavorable

Like one writer said earlier today... when Sarah runs there will be a unleashing of a conservative grassroots movement unlike any other in recent campaigns....people will be actually there to “vote for somebody” than just “to vote against somebody”

How many people can you honestly say voted in 2008 and said that “they voted for Sarah and not necessarily McCain”? Hundred of thousands of people did just that!

I think you are missing a zero or two. Without her, McCain would have suffered a landslide loss far worse than either Mondale or McGovern. He could have easily lost all fifty states.

I hope she runs because I truly want to vote for her like I’ve never wanted to vote for anyone in my life; for two reasons. First, she is the truest conservative in the potential pool who represents my values. Second, I really really want to see the liberals blow their gaskets!

JMO, but I think if she had been undecided about running before the Democrat/Media complex launched its all out assault to kneecap her following events in Tuscon, she’s decided now and more determined than ever to beat them.

Chuck Heath and Todd Palin have been telling people how competitive she is for two years now, and the lamestream media and their leftist masters were too busy dumpster diving to fully comprehend the meaning of what being “competitive” means to Sarahcuda.

They are about to find out.

Im not lying.....I told people straight up when they ask me about 2008 I went straight into that booth and pressed the button for Palin and was certain of who I actually voted for when I walked out, there was no doubt at all

By all accounts, Palin has not yet made a final decision on whether she will run for president. But the assumption among powerbrokers in Iowa that she would be unwilling or unable to do the traditional legwork required -- and would instead rely almost exclusively on a larger-than-life media campaign to blow away her rivals -- appears to be inaccurate.

Palin's aides have long emphasized in private conversations that she relishes opportunities to engage with voters face-to-face in small venues and would not repeat the mistakes that Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani made in 2008 by declining to do the hard work required in the early states.

Again, TPTB underestimate Mrs. Palin.

Grassroots, on-the-ground campaigning is right in her wheelhouse.

I love it, I just did it.....

Oh, and now the government wants to know who your employer is (so they can attack them and you, and what you do) None of their damn business.....it says this is only for those donating over $200, but they wanted it from me for $20.12

Try using “retired”.......that seemed to work

Yeah, if Sarah Palin hadn’t been chosen as McCain’s running mate, it would have been hard for me to vote for him. Next go around, if they put forth a RINO; it’s going to be IMPOSSIBLE for me to vote for a RINO.

Good Idea - I just did the same thing - re-curring for 6 months. Once she announces, I will increase that.

Shout out to everyone! - time to step up to the plate.

She needs to run. I’m glad to hear this. They don’t want her to even enter the race and they are attempting to dissuade her from running, but she needs to go all out and enter. Watch the panic when that happens. They run all these stories about how she’s no threat and done politically but watch the reaction when she enters.
