Sarah Palin takes another important step in presidential race (Successful Long Island appearance)
Irish Central ^ | February 18, 2011 | Patrick Roberts

Sarah Palin's appearance in Long Island this week was noteworthy for several reasons.

The most important one, however, was it signals a new phase in her campaign for president.

Palin wooed a large crowd of Long Islanders at the Crest Hollow Club in Woodbury.

The audience was a mixture of business people drawn from both political backgrounds.

Long Island was a great location for Palin to choose to break out of the adoring crowd circuit she regularly encounters in friendly states.

Long Islanders however, are the ultimate switch voters, who move back and forth between Democrats and Republicans.

This time she won them over-- big.

She took questions on all topics and displayed what ' Newsday' called an impressive knowledge on a range of subjects.

This is the real Sarah Palin, the one you can hardly find behind the media image and the sneering stuff of late night comedians.

Given how undistinguished this Republican presidential field is Palin looks more and more like an option for the GOP.

Instead of pining for Chris Christie they may want to look North to Alaska for their best hope.

She brings excitement, commitment and a sense of something new to a very staid political party.

Sure she will start as an outsider, but how far more outside can you be when you were Governor of Alaska and a woman to boot?

And look where she is now.

I have written here consistently that Palin continues to be underestimated by the media and the Washington echo chamber.

As she proved in Long Island she's as smart as a whip, looks great, is confident and has a plan whether you like it or not.

I see no reason to change my long-term forecast that she will be the Republican nominee.

This week I believe she took another important step.

The title says another important step. What step is there besides winning? A step toward beauty queen? What step is there that you thought it meant?

Did you read the article? She “wowed” a bipartisan group of New York business people, which the MSM says is way beyond her. It’s about everyone underestimating her. Please don’t tell me you’re one of those who believe their b*llsh*t?

ok I admit I know nothing of The Crest Hollow Club in Woodbury. If that is representative of NY then maybe she can win.

Momentum for Sarah builds each day the tide pulls away from Obama. Her wave will only grow 'till 2012. The other earthly candidates bear the sign of past Dole/McCains without the distinction that this time is 'their time'.

None of these grey-maned lions possess the fight or spirit needed to take back what belongs to the Pride. America's Pride. And it will be a fight- one a lioness can lead but she'll need back-up. She can't take the hyenas and jackals on alone.

Already, young lions are snipping at their heels in the House. And they'll set the stage for 2012. By then, a leader will emerge to reclaim what is America's. Mamma grizzly or lioness, take your pick. In 2012 the cubs will be hungry and it will get serious- real damn serious.

Look to Wisconsin for a glimpse of what lies ahead for those states running bigger, fatter, deficits. Look to the middle east for people who've had it with tyranny (and may re-impose it unwittingly). Look to America to see a solution to such problems without the usual bloodshed while throwing tyranny to the dustbin.

I'm not a bible clinger but guns are real sticky. Some things happen when you least expect it. Sarah's appearance on the political scene seems beyond 'earthly' to me. It could just be blind luck and that may be the best way to describe it, but what we face in 2012 is of a nature that America's very survival may depend on it's outcome.

The enemy within has been with us for a while, is well entrenched and comfortable in putting someone like Obama in power- while he strips away any veneer of 'normalcy' while promoting his radical, socialist/fascist agenda. Why not? Who's gonna stop them? Whoever is chosen to lead the fight against these socialists/communists must be of American pedigree. That means spirited and full of fight. Me, I'll take teeth and claws, thank you. 'Cause I think we're gonna need 'em.

As far the ‘strategery’ goes, it helps not to neglect regions that could fall into your camp.

I see this type of thing completely within Sarah’s mode of operation; to show face in what is considered unfriendly territory. If we were to look back over NY’s elections, however, we’d notice there were plenty of Republicans that captured the winning votes.

It’s interesting watching the shift in perception as people realize she’s not stupid like the state sanctioned media keeps repeating.

been to The Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury for an assortment of events, and it is a top flight location.....

I’m sure there was a wide assortment of folks, but I bet there was a lot of “money” there, it’s that kind of place

She was indeed outstanding doing just what Chris Christie said she should do....for an hour she answered questions with no notes and no teleprompter.....and if that is any judge......she will be President 45.

A beautiful one at that.

OK, I’ve seen this term in more than one forum now.

What the hell does “Shardenfreude” mean?

I’m sorry, but my foreign language skills are non-existent.

Is it a new buzz-word along the lines of ‘gravitas’, another word I never heard of til every socialist in living history started throwing it around?

And yes, Palin should run!
